DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Executing Technician functions, which encompasses:

- Receiving Incoming Repair equipment from Customers and completing the booking in procedure.
- Compiling quotations to customers timeously using the quote book.
- Completing all work for customers using the booking in/tag/job card/SAN system. The equipment needs to be repaired using root cause analysis to identify all faults and work needs to be completed as quickly as possible and checked and tested for accuracy, to meet quality control standards.
- Control stock against Pastel records with stock codes and manage the ordering of spare parts so that work can be completed speedily and that no stock losses occur.
- Ensuring completed work is invoiced correctly against the SAN/job card and all delivery notes or SANS are submitted to the admin team with correct signatures so costings and invoicing can be executed in within 24 hours after the completing a job or trip.
- Planning and arranging work for repairs and calibrations in the workshop and on site, in a manner that is efficient and reduces unnecessary costs or repeat trips.
- Take responsibility for using and safeguarding all company resources and assets in the workshop and on-site trips, such as vehicles, cellphones, stock etc.
- Executing SANAS calibrations and other verifications in compliance with Company Procedures and SANAS requirements. Refer to Appendix.
- Caring for and completing all checks on loadcells and other testing/measuring equipment to ensure their reliability and verifiability.
- Executing all relevant administration associated with verifications and calibrations
- Managing the certificate system and completing certificates expeditiously.
- Taking responsibility for site first aid.
- Recording and distributing all SANAS and safety minutes to all relevant parties.
- Overseeing weekly / monthly checklist requirements for SHEQ.
- Use equipment in accordance with safety standard as and when required from time to time, including working with the lathe; weld on site or in house wrt repairs as agreed.
- Assisting the Company to meet its SANAS standards, Health and Safety procedures and laws and taking steps to safeguard the safety of all employees. This includes being responsible for the Generator and Company Pool car.

General Duties:

- Acting with integrity and ethically in all interactions with staff, customers, and suppliers.
- Managing the staff seconded to assist with the completion of work to improve the quality of repairs and new products produced.
- Assist with collections and deliveries from time to time for both Companies.
- Take initiative to continue work if unsupervised.
- Assist in general maintenance within reason of scope of work

COMPETENCIES AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

- Matric with a relevant qualification as an artisan/technician preferred. (Millwright/Fitter or similar - will consider RPE)
- Several (approx. 10 years) relevant experience and proven proficiency in a repairs with exposure to problem solving, fault finding, mechanical/electrical repairs etc. and/or calibrations in a fast paced service environment essential. SMME preferential.
- Proficiency in using drills, lathes, welding and other tools and workshop equipment.
- Whilst a team player, the person can work independently, is dedicated to ensuring 100% precision in their work and takes pride in the functionality of all machines.
- Use of initiative, strong drive to achieve results with a sense of urgency
- Highly attentive to detail and maintains high personal work standards
- Display honesty, integrity and can maintain a code of confidentiality where sensitive issues are handled for management.
- Able to build rapport and relationships with Customers and staff at all levels, especially in volatile and emergency situations.

- Must have be able to be assertive, listen and accept responsibility when negative feedback, errors and issues from internal staff and customers are raised, even if not of own doing, and engage in a positive and constructive manner to rectify the situation.
- A valid driver’s license, with several years’ experience in driving utility vehicles; with a forklift driver’s license preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with calibration/verification procedures; job card and quotation systems as well as basic business management procedures and processes.
