**Role Purpose**
**Requirements**:
**Minimum Qualifications**:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Relevant IT Qualification would be advantageous
- ITIL qualification would be Advantageous
**Minimum Experience**:
- At least 5 years proven experience in an IT field is essential
- 2-5 years’ experience working in an Agile environment
- Strong problem solving skills and analytical thinking
- Results driven team player with high energy levels
- Ability to work independently/unsupervised and to function effectively within a
team
- Ability to perform under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to collaborate with others
- Sound communication skills (both verbal and written)
- A good working knowledge of computer packages
- Leadership qualities is essential
- Excellent negotiation skills
**Duties & Responsibilities**
**Implementation**:
- Consults with Product Manager / Owner and review project proposals to determine goals, time frame, and procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements and allocation of resources
- Ensure that the right level of quality assurance will be conducted to mitigate risk
**Technical Expertise**:
- Provide technical guidance and expertise to the development team
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the team is using the latest tools and methodologies
- Implement and enforce coding standards and best practices
- Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards
**Planning & Design**:
- Ownership and accountability of the technical planning and design of software solutions
- Ensure alignment to Business Unit (BU) IT strategy
- Drive solutions which will align to industry best practise
- Ensure compliance with the Momentum Health Soluions (MHS) strategic platform decisions
- Formulates and defines technical scope and objectives of projects
- Provide technical input into buy VS build discussions
**Project Management**:
- Responsible for the oversight of development projects pertaining to system development for delivery to the business
- Ensure that the project goals, of the team, are accomplished and are in line with business objectives
- Act as a point of technical escalation & resolution during the project life cycle
- Assist the BU with scoping, identification of project deliverables & creation of project specific documentation
- Conceptualise & experiment with alternative architectural & technology approaches
- Facilitate outlying solutions & estimation workshops
- Ensure efficient use of resources and cost-effective delivery of projects.
**Risk Management**:
- Identify and mitigate risks throughout the development process
- Implement strategies to address and resolve issues that may arise during development
**Effectively lead a Team**:
- Plans, organises and controls activities of Development staff in the development of computer based systems
- Coaching and mentorship of staff
- Responsible for ensuring that the systems development methodology is adhered to by the team
- Create a positive work climate & culture to energise employees
- Identify, attract & retain skills
