Innovation Lab Analyst

Overview:
This job description is for a temporary lab analyst in Kemin Industries’ laboratory.

Research projects done will be in the field of mycotoxin binders, antioxidants, enzymes and will involve development of new formulations from lab to pilot plant to successful upscale into the factory.

**Responsibilities**:
To be part of the team, this person is meticulous with an exceptional work ethic and positive attitude together with the ability to work hard.

These include, but are not limited to sample preparation and the execution of:

- mycotoxin analyses
- antioxidant recoveries
- formaldehyde analysis
- enzyme assays
- determination of oxidation parameters such as peroxide value, TBARS, free fatty acids
- shelf-life analysis
- titration (autotitrator, pH meter)
- photospectrometry (UV/VIS spectrophotometer, FT NIR, UV/VIS microplate reader
- chromatography (HPLC UV, HPLC FLD, UHPLC UV, GC-FID, GC MS)
- oxidative stability/shelf lif analysis (OXITEST)

Qualifications:

- A minimum of an undergraduate degree in any of these fields:

- chemical engineering,
- chemistry,
- analytical chemistry,
- biochemistry
- Has good written and oral communication skills.
- Can read and record instrument data.
- Can tabulate data and keep and maintain detailed laboratory records.
- Is meticulous in preparation and can ensure that all laboratory protocols and procedures adhere to safety requirements.
- Can maintain a clean and tidy workplace with frequent stock taking of consumable levels to ensure efficient completion of duties; and
- Can participate in laboratory meetings to discuss laboratory related matters and assist in results interpretation.
