Job Family- Investment Banking

**Job Purpose**
- To originate, structure and execute various types of mezzanine, equity finance or pure equity solutions across all of Nedbank CIB’s
- **NCIB**) sector focus areas for its (i) corporate clients and (ii) for its growing family office client network.- The Principal Finance
- **PF**) team aims to deliver:
- market leading, innovative solutions for the bank’s client base across South Africa primarily, and to a growing extent outside of South Africa;
- market leading execution excellence and client experience for these bespoke solutions;
- significant ancillary and cross sell business for other parts of NCIB; and
- thus generate significant headline earnings for NCIB which demonstrate an attractive risk adjusted return profile.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support the achievement of business strategy, objectives and values by reviewing Nedbank and Business Unit Plans and ensuring delivered systems, processes, services and solutions are aligned.
- Take a leading role in the client and deal origination targets of PF through identifying potential new clients for NCIB, identifying potential new transaction opportunities for NCIB and providing innovative solutions.
- Take a leading role in the CIB cross sell targets of PF through identifying opportunities for Investment Banking, Markets, and Transactional Services teams.
- Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes that will improve the functioning of stakeholders' businesses by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations.
- Ensure regulatory compliance by Sanctions checking and adherence to regulations, policies, and procedures- Ensure ongoing risk management by undertaking client site visits, completing annual reviews to review the risk annually, assessing performance - all in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Improve deal origination by providing multidisciplinary solutions, identifying and resolving work problems and delivering the required output to clients, and refining and enhancing coverage.
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders by networking, fostering collaboration, providing regular communication, and complying with the governance and control frameworks.
- Seek and provide opportunities to improve business processes, models and systems by identifying and recommending effective ways to operate and add value to IB and Nedbank.
- Manage deal implementation by structuring, negotiating and attending to legal matters and Conditions Precedent (CP).
- Improve performance of the team by providing on the job training, knowledge sharing, and identifying suitable formal and informal training.
- Get involved in non-deal specific projects by providing expert advice and training, testing and implementation.
- Initiate client interaction, continued networking and thus deal origination through innovative marketing events that are meaningful for PF’s client base.**Essential Qualification - NQF Level**
- Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Sciences, Economics, Legal or Business Science**Preferred Qualification**
- Honours Degree with specialisation in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Engineering or Science.
- Chartered Accountant (SA), Chartered Financial Analyst
- Master’s degree in Commerce, Sciences, Engineering or Legal fields.

**Minimum Experience Level**

8-12 years relevant sector / industry experience with a strong background in lending (leveraged finance, mezzanine or equity finance) and/or supporting lending teams in the leveraged finance, mezzanine finance or equity finance industry.
