Blasting Assistant

Assist the Blaster in performing blasting operations by:

- Marking blast holes
- Block demarcation
- Measuring blast holes
- Priming of blast holes
- Charging up of blastholes
- Stemming of blast holes
- Assist in tying up the blast and checking it
- Assist as a blast guard when necessary
- Assist in hazard identification and managing on the block

**CORE COMPETENCES**:

- Medically fit
- No criminal record
- Ability to converse in either English or Afrikaans
- Willing to work overtime
- Sense of urgency
- Problem skills solving
- Pay attention to details

**TECHNICAL COMPETENCES**:
Education/Qualifications:

- Minimum Grade 10 but Grade 12 will be advantageous
- Blasting assistant certificate
- Competent A certificate will be advantageous

Professional Experience:

- Must have worked at mine before
- Minimum 6 months or more working as blasting assistant

Vaccinated

Other skills (languages, IT, other technical knowledges):

- Basic computer literacy
- Blasting product knowledge
- Knowledge of Explosives Act and Mine Health and Safety Act
- Driver’s license will be advantageous
