**_ Position Purpose:_**

Leads the process of setting up a world class, digital business relevant to Transnet Academy: Faculty of Port Terminals and

Marine to enable the provision of best-in-class technical, operations, academic training and service offerings.

Ensures innovation and utilisation of technology and digital solutions to advance and improve the Transnet Academy’s
service offerings as well as the virtualization of learning solutions to maximise access and enable employee engagement in

personalised learning.

Partners and Collaborates with local/international universities/institutions to deliver world-class learning solutions for the

development of bespoke and accredited qualifications for the Academy.

**_ Position outputs:_**

FUNCTIONAL LEADERSHIP

Develop effective learning processes with an appropriate delivery model and structure that will enable the full establishment

of the Faculty of Terminal and Marine.

Lead and manage projects within the approved timelines and budgets.

ADMINISTRATION

Institute appropriate governance structures and frameworks to manage, oversee and ensure effective academic, and

technical and operations training across Transnet and the continent.

Ensure compliance to the national legislative framework and bodies, such as TETA, including international standards such as

ISO 9000 certification.

Ensure effective stakeholder relations management by promoting and establishing the development of relationships with

relevant key internal and external stakeholders in accordance with business requirements and governance structures.

CURRICULUM

Create university and industry partnerships to support and enhance the development of Transnet capabilities and

competencies, and strive for international accreditation of qualifications to enable offering of accredited qualifications to

over-border clients for additional revenue generation.

Conduct benchmarking with similar organizations and comparable public and private technical institutes nationally and

globally to ensure design and delivery of optimal learning solutions. Research and benchmark as necessary to ensure best in

class programmes and special initiatives that support the development of Transnet Capabilities and Competencies.

SERVICE DELIVERY

Provide strategic leadership be ensuring that the Faculty of Terminal and marine is the best in class across the continent and

globally.

Ensure that training assessment methods are standardized and consistently applied across the Faculty, including the

incorporation of on-line assessment methodologies

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

Manage delegated budget and expenditure in line with business priorities and within budgetary constraints, and report

deviations.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

Create highly effective team, provide inspirational leadership and manage day to day people management issues.

**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**

Degree in Industrial Engineering, related Engineering fields or Logistics, Marine or Science related fields.
Honours Degree or Post Graduate qualification is an added advantage.
Appropriate 15 years experience in Learning & Development at a senior managerial level in a large organization with a
complex operations environment.
Seven years in Executive roles of similar environment, experience in Terminal, Marine or similar environment will be an
added advantage.
In-depth knowledge of leading Learning and Development practices, locally and across borders.
Sound experience in providing strategic guidance on education and planning, business planning and project management.
Experience must include the design of strategic frameworks, policies and procedures of Learning and Development.
Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19
