**Duties and Responsibilties**
Legal Administration
- Assists with the implementation of Afrirent’s Corporate Legal Strategy
- Assists with the implementation legal administration throughout the business
- Protects Afrirent against risks related to legal or regulatory sanctions, material financial loss, and any loss of reputation that the business might suffer due to non-compliance with laws, rules or regulations
- Provides proactive, sound, effective and professional legal services i.e. legal support, drafts legal opinions and legal documentation / contract drafting for Afrirent, the Board, Board Subcommittees and Management to ensure that legally informed and compliant decisions are taken and implemented
- Assists with the implementation legal standards / rules of engagement on legal issues
- Provides advice on existing contracts i.e. projects already undertaken and where action needs to be taken
- Assists to manage litigation and disputes for and on behalf of Afrirent
- Acts as the Legal Counsel in civil and criminal matters; and manages all criminal matters by conducting preliminary investigations and guiding the decision-making on further action and / or next steps as directed by the Head of Legal
- Prepares Legal and Compliance reports for the Head of Legal and Compliance
Enterprise Risk Management
- Assists in the development of policies and procedures that will assist the various business units in discharging their responsibilities
- Assists with the implementation of a sound ERM model as well as the supporting risk strategy that is aligned to the corporate strategy, stakeholder needs and expectations; legislative requirements; industry trends and which ensures the long-term business viability of Afrirent
- Ensures that the implemented ERM model and plan are managed, measured, monitored and evaluated
- Implements short-and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures
Compliance Management
- Assists with the implementation an effective compliance program by developing and managing the compliance framework
- Ensures compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
- Reviews and advises on all Afrirent policies to ensure legal and regulatory compliance
- Oversee compliance with Afrirent policies as directed by Head of Legal
- Assesses Afrirent’s operations to determine compliance risk and conducts regular audits of the operations, procedures, practices and documents to identify and correct issues of non-compliance
- Keeps abreast of legislative amendments and reforms, compliance and requirements; and facilitates ongoing training and communication at Afrirent
International Organisation for standardisation (ISO) Audit Compliance
- Assist the Head of Legal to achieve an average of 80% compliance on both internal and external International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) audits conducted.
**Education (Formal Qualification Required)**
Minimum
- LLB Degree or equivalent
- Admission as an Attorney / Advocate
Ideal
- Experience in corporate and commercial, contracts and litigation will be advantageous.

- Registration with the LPC or relevant professional body (non-practising acceptable)

Minimum
- 2-5 years’ experience in Practice / Legal Counsel / Legal Advisor in the public or private sector.
Ideal
- Previous exposure to corporate/commercial/contracts/risk and/or compliance.

Pay: R22 000,00 - R40 000,00 per month
