**OVERVIEW**:

- The primary objective of the project is to collect monies due to the city through the management and enhancement of the end-to-end Credit Control Function of the City. Therefore, the goal of the project is to ensure the completeness of all credit control actions issued leading to an increase in payments for the City.

**JOB PURPOSE**:

- To provide technical capacity to the meter reading and Revenue Consulting teams with key focus on bulk consumers.
- The main key component to be measured will be the improvement of the City’s Debt Book vs the debt book at the start of the project.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Inspection / Quality Assurance for water metering activities and / or contractor tasks
- Input data about customer consumption - Identify notable deviations and investigate reason and provide recommendations.
- Assess problematic utility meters identified during the month to ensure the devices are working properly and free of mechanical problems.
- Provide advice and training where the meter readers lack understanding of tariffs, device operation and calculations for billing.
- Inspect and verify customer metering and associated devices to reconcile consumption and charges as per tariff structure.
- Lead meter audits and meter installation standards and operations.
- Report inoperable and malfunctioning devices or unauthorized changes to the meter.
- Investigate water meter tampering.
- Compile reports of audits, inspections, and deviations with recommendations for corrective action and mitigating of incorrect billing.
- Technical inputs on meter problems to ensure Metering disputes are resolved.

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**
- B Tech (Civil)
- B Eng (Civil)
- B Sc Engineering (Civil)
- Pr. Eng. / Pr. Tech (added advantage)
- 5 years work Experience with a minimum of 3 years working on municipal water projects, water demand and conservation, revenue management, metering, water distribution and reticulation
