Chief Technical Officer

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**
- Previous experience in managing a Technical team of 4+ managers and 20+ staff 10 years senior management experience
- Minimum Diploma/Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Renewable energy
- Experience in managing teams remotely within multiple regions is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of Solar Panels, Inverters, Battery storage.
- Experience in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Technical Strategy**
- Provide Strategic (formulation of Product management, commercial technical support) and Operational leadership to the Technical team
- Manage, motivate, and inspire the Technical team to deliver operational excellence
- Delegate, measure and priorities workstreams to the relevant teams ensuring that timeframes promised to customers are meet.
- Attend Manco/Exco meetings, provide relevant and accurate feedback, implement agreed actions
- Hold regular meetings with the Technical team, determine agenda points including feedback from Manco/Exco, departmental performance, potential issues, staffing, training needs
- Leads the development of department goals, objectives, and processes ensuring that all actions are aligned to “Client” Solars business Strategy.
- Drive the company’s engagement strategies within the Technical team
- Recruitment, transfer, and promotion of skilled and talented workforce within the Technical team in line with the company’s EE requirements.
- Using the forecast budgets, ensure that plans are put in place to grow the technical department as required to meet the demands both locally and outside SA borders.
- Ensure that the “Client” SOP system is kept up to date on all queries / returns thereby ensuring excellent customer service.
**Legal Compliance**
- Responsible for any Technical related legal compliance including relevant legislation, regulations, and charters
- Ensure Department policies and legal guidelines are communicated throughout the company and that they are always followed
- Set company policies for the Technical Department (Product Management) as well as the Technical service team.
- Accountable delivery of required documentation for regulatory reporting by the due date
**Finance**
- Effectively monitor and manage the Technical Team in line with approved budgets
- Continuously search ways to ensure optimal cost utilisation for all business activities
**Stakeholder Relations**
- Build and maintain trust relationships with the UK, Management Team, key suppliers, and Customers to ensure business needs are met and employees are self-motivated and driven
- Develop and maintain long lasting, strong business relations with all key and strategic supplier
**People Management**
- Establish annual KPI’s for the Technical team, ensure alignment to company objectives, measure performance, provide feedback, amend, and implement
- * Using company software and tools, ensure managers are monitoring the performance of each area as per above intervals, and corrective steps taken where needed Conduct regular performance reviews with managers to discuss progress, raise non-performance issues and implement corrective actions
- * Agree, implement, and monitor monthly and annual targets for the Technical team
- Assemble, develop, inspire, motivate, develop, and retain top talent; a team-builder who enables/encourages the highest level of individual and group performance
- Identify key staff for succession planning and future development in line with the Company’s EE plan
- Contribute to the development of a Company culture that is performance-driven, attracts and retains talent and that is focused on quality Customer service by setting annual KPI’s for the team, ensure alignment to Department and company objectives, measure performance and provide feedback
- Drive the company’s engagement strategies within the Technical team
**Training and development**
- Partner with Training Manager to build a strong management team; ensure training and developmental needs of the Technical team are identified, required training schedules completed and training provided.
- Success criteria for training to be determined and tested post-training with Training Manager
- Identify key staff for succession planning and future development in line with the Company’s EE plan
- Keep up with industry trends and ensure own development
- Plays an active role in developing presentations to be used at Webinars and F2F customer training events
- Establish a working plan to train, educate staff in product knowledge
**Business improvement**
- Business Improvement plan - Research and propose end to end operational excellence plan in line with business requirements (Blueprint for excellence) Continually seek ways to improve business operations, identify and propose changes and implement once agreed
