Technical Development Assistant

PURPOSE
Primary Function is to produce all samples required for the sample machines (kibby / Mtuft / carding / cut pile graphic).
SPAN OF CONTROL
This role is responsible for the following the processes in the Technical Development Department and reports into the Technical Development Co-Ordinator.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & OUTPUTS
Turning requests from Commercial Design Team, & Senior Technical Development Manager into the required samples - ensuring quality paraments are kept at a high standardSupport to Commercial Design team.
Production Management - Deep Focus
- Reduce unplanned downtime on sample production machines by ensuring all stoppages are reported to the Technical Development co-ordinator or Technicians from electrical department.
- Ensuring all samples leaving Belgotex are of good quality, labelled and identified correctly Operations of all sample machines (kibby / mtuft / carding /cut pile graphic)
- Changing of needles on kibby sample machines
Strategy and Operational Planning - Curiosity
- Producing all sample work for Design / Technical team
- Ensuring all yarns are available for sample production / color combinations to be verified prior to production of samples.
- Ensuring the tuftweave 400-color bank yarn at technical development is always stocked, taking inventory every month. (If short the technical development co-ordinator to be informed so that it can be arranged for this stock to be replenished)
- Arranging for the making up of air -entanglement yarns for samples when not available.
- Ensuring all sample work is finished within stipulated dates
- Ensuring all samples are quality checked / labelled correctly prior to despatching.
- Cutting and labelling of all sample materials
- Produce all color sample boards for new and custom products
- Update yarn and fibre folders when requested
- Arranging and laying out of all development material (broadloom / tiles etc.) for assessment and presentations
- To also ensure that rolls and boxes of tiles in R/D area are wrapped, packed, and sent back to stock once completed.
Reporting and Documentation
- Report on all stoppages for sample machine production.
- Report on shortages for all spares for sample machines.
- Reporting of shortages for raw materials used for sample production.
