IT Technician

**SUMMARY OF POSITION**

The Network Specialist Operator prepares and designs all segments of an IT Network, CCTV or security network in accordance of the client’s requirements. He/she must also be able to install such a network from the cabling phase to the programming and commissioning phase. He/she must also be able to support in fault finding and training of the systems provided to the client’s employees. He/she must also be able to document and prepare as build documentation for signoff and warranty purposes

**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- **Technical Support**
- Produce and or assist with designing schematic and presentation material for proposals and solutions offered to prospective Clients
- Assist with the planning phase and what equipment will be quoted by the sales team.
- Be able to learn new systems on the fly if required.
- Configure and update hardware and software on Network, CCTV & other systems
- Must be able to support clients with the systems provided by Interconnect Systems
- Compile and maintain a database of all configurations and schematics.
- Must be capable in using hand tools on site to build or fix any solutions to assist with the clients requirements.
- Must have good knowledge on how to setup and use servers, Virtual Machines and Hyper-V terminals as most of the software and client software needs to be installed and maintained on the clients servers.

- Report any deviations that could lead to an accident
- Participate in Safety Training to improve safety standards
- Report incidents and accidents before the end of a shift
- Adhere to the Company's Health and Safety policy and procedure
- Look after your own safety and that of other employees
- Ensure that the SHEQ Management System requirements are met towards customer, internal, ISO, regulatory / legal requirements.
- Manage and perform all internal processes, especially those that affect the quality of the Organization's products.
- Work with Customers, Collogues and Contractors towards continual improvement of the Management system and report the need for improvement to Management.
- Keep up standards and regulations with respect to Products and Services.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Experience in Network/Infrastructure cabling.
- Extensive knowledge of IP Protocols & Routing
- Must have experience in configuring Network Switches (Alcatel, Cisco or HP)
- Experience in Wifi & point to point radio systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Visio & Stencils
- Proficient in AutoCad will be an advantage
- Proficient in MS Office
- Design schematic plans
- Basic knowledge of floor plans and network typologies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Afrikaans
- A valid driver’s licence
- Must comply with the Company’s policies and procedures
