**_ Position Purpose:_**

The Senior Specialist: Employee Relations Enablement will be responsible for providing employee relations expertise and

support to the General Manager: Employee Relations, the Group Employee Relations Department and operating division

employee relations managers in employee relations governance, compliance, policy, research and reporting.

**_ Position outputs:_**

Assist and support the General Manager in the development and

implementation of an employee relations strategy to support the People Management strategy and the company’s business
strategy;
- Provide employee relations and labour law advice to the company;
- Develop and manage a system for ER governance, legislative compliance,

monitoring and reporting across the company;
- Develop and review ER policies and ensure engagement and sign-off by all

relevant stakeholders and role players;
- Manage and coordinate the provision of a professional ER secretariat;
- Analyse information emanating from ER engagements and develop action lists for follow up and reporting;
Provide timeous and regular reporting to all stakeholders on employee relations
- matters;
- Manage and coordinate the company’s joint oversight role over the

administration and governance of the Transnet Bargaining Council;
- Service Providers: Develop a system for monitoring compliance with

employment legislation and employment standards;
- Contribute to the drafting and review of contracts, policies and procedures;
- Ensure the design, implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of

the employee relations case management system;
- Analyse and present ER statistics to determine trends, formulate strategies to

address weaknesses and monitor compliance;
- Prepare communication to employees, line managers and ER practitioners on ER

projects and initiatives;
- Capacitate management in all aspects of employee relations practice through

the development of guidelines, training and other measures;
- Develop and embed an internal research capability to provide up-to-date and

relevant research on all aspects of employee relations;
- Conduct periodic audits to test compliance with ER policies, guidelines and

SOP's;
- Manage all staff employed in Group ER Enablement and account for the

administration and budgeting requirements;
- Assist and support the General Manager in negotiations and consultations with

labour in various engagement structures;
- Assist and support the General Manager in the strategic management and oversight of employee relations across the

company;
- Assist and support the General Manager in drafting company communications and disseminate across the organisation.

**_Qualifications & Experience:_**
An LLB degree or a 4-year degree or advanced diploma (NQF Level 7) in employee relations, labour law or a
related qualification is required;
ÿ Admission as an attorney or advocate
will be a distinct advantage
ÿ A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience
as an employee relations practitioner is
required.
