**Job Purpose**:
The Department of the Premier, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent individual to render an English and Afrikaans language practitioner service to the Directorate: Legislation. This post is based in Cape Town CBD.

**Minimum Requirements**:
An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (B-Degree or equivelent qualification); A minimum of 3 years operational experience in a language services environment.

**Recommendation**:
Experience in editing and translating legislation and other legislative instruments; Well versed in English and Afrikaans.

**Key Performance Areas**:
Edit and proofread draft legislation and other legislative instruments and documents; Render assistance with translations (Revise and quality control translations and translate legislation, legislative instruments and documents); Execute editorial functions; Edit and proofread documents to ensure conformity with standards and conventions; Render a language advisory service to the Branch: Legal Services.

**Competencies**:
Knowledge of editing and translation of documents; Skills in the following: Language editing and proofreading (English and Afrikaans); Translation (English and Afrikaans); Communication (written and verbal); Computer literacy in MS Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc); Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; Ability to work meticulously.

**Remuneration**:
R 206 994 per annum (5/8th - Salary level 8)

Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
