**GIRLS’ PREPARATORY**
Our primary intention is to educate and empower girls, raising them in ways that are responsive to the challenges unique to women. We aim to be the leaders in girls’ education, with the focus on nurturing individual skills and dispositions, equipping girls to engage confidently and with a sense of purpose. Our girls work within a values-based framework in order to make decisions with good intent. The South African context is diverse and dynamic. We raise girls to embrace their heritage and collaborate locally to make a significant contribution nationally and internationally.
**Music Teacher**:
**The requirements for this position are**:
- Relevant music qualification from a recognised institution; competence as a pianist and accompanist is compulsory
- Previous experience in an IEB school is preferred, as is experience in teaching music in primary school environments as well as provide training towards the Royal Schools, UNISA and Trinity external examinations
- Piano lessons for individual learners, who choose piano as their instrument of choice
- Playing for Chapel services, and all events/occasions at the Girls’ Schools and the College as a whole
- Attend all music department executive and campus related meetings
- Be involved with the organisation of music/drama events and all school functions which require musical items
- Management of part-time music staff, with strong administrative skills (operational and organisational)
- Ability to lead the choir and/or orchestra
- A fundamentally future-oriented approach to teaching and learning, adopting latest pedagogies and technologies in sound production (familiarity with Apple-based technologies and apps would be advantageous)
- The ability to differentiate, innovate and moderate curriculum to complement our innovative and inclusive approach to education
- A well-developed EQ, mindfulness and emotional agility
- The ability to work independently and in collaboration with a variety of teams
- Excellent analytical, communication, intrapersonal and administrative skills
- A willingness to research and share latest trends in music and class music programmes
- Proof of registration with SACE and a sexual offender’s clearance certificate
- An awareness of the nature of the school and willingness to commit to its all-round ethos, co-curricular activities and pastoral approach
- A willingness to work within the Methodist Church based ethos of the College
