**Job Purpose**: To carry out planned preventative and breakdown maintenance daily of all factory equipment in accordance with the OHS Act and Mars Preventative Maintenance Standards and Procedures ensuring maximum availability and reliability of all assets. **Context and Scope**: - To foster an environment of continuous improvement & innovation. - To maintain production facilities within the operating parameters laid down i.e. Safety, Quality, Housekeeping, Efficiencies and tactical targets. - To foster an environment of continuous improvement & innovation. - Improve & maintain plant reliability and availability of > 90%. - Attention to details in procedures, equipment, building & operations to Engineering Standards. **What are we looking for?**: - Matriculation, N3 Technical Qualification, Trade Certificate (Fitter and turner) - 5+ years in a FMCG Maintenance Role - Strong experience on Boilers, Compressors, Chilling plants, Cold Rooms & Air handling units - Experience on High Speed Packing lines - Experience on a Wet sauce Filler + Retorts - Basic welding skills would be advantageous - Computer literate - Analytical Capability - Quality & Food Safety Competencies, Knowledge & Skills - Awareness of basic GMP, Food safety and HACCP. - Basic allergen separation understanding. - Understanding of thermal processing. - Skilled in raising change execution documents as per change execution procedures. - Support life cycle processes. - Customer Focus - Planning **What will be your key responsibilities?**: - Execute all maintenance activities according to maintenance strategy ensuring that assets perform within set quality, safety, housekeeping, technical, cost and operational standards. - Ensure that associates and non-associates, who support your areas of responsibility are trained and competent, with good adherence to best operating practices. - Ensure integrity of safety equipment and compliance with safety procedures at all times. - Ensure availability of spares through adherence to inventory management procedures, timely planning of activities and continuous condition monitoring. - Provide effective backup for the factory by performing after hours standby when required. - Analyze condition, troubleshoot failures, repair & perform preventative / predictive maintenance on production equipment, & utilities and all associated equipment. - Must observe the proper Lock out/ Tag out and all safety procedures as required. - Initiate, plan and coordinate work performed by other associates, contractors and / or self. - Prioritize & manage work assigned to ensure immediate response to emergencies, diagnose faults quickly and make immediate repairs. - Technical troubleshooting the process, mechanical & basic electrical issues which prevent meeting the shift or weekly schedules. - Maintain functional knowledge of all equipment in packaging departments. - Ensure all work orders are complete and accurate, including planned & unplanned assignments. - Follow regular checks & follow preventative maintenance schedules, assessing condition & ensuring compliance with prescribed schedules. - Good communication skills, to access relevant information about equipment and provide clear information about equipment condition & status. This will include any unscheduled downtime of equipment that hamper achieving the production schedule goals. - Must be able to read blueprints & schematic drawings to determine work procedures, to conduct foundations for & to assemble, dismantle & overhaul machinery & equipment, using hand & power tools. - Seek out Optimization opportunities for increase production tonnages. - Be able to work with team members and or alone on shift where required - Responsible to communicate & elevate any Quality & Food Safety concerns to management. - Understand & utilize drawings, diagrams & equipment manufactures instructions. - Other similar duties as assigned by manager. - Drive that all spares utilized are captured on job cards and replenishment takes place. - Must have own reliable transport. **What can you expect from Mars?**: - Work with over 130,000 diverse and talented Associates, all guided by The Five Principles. - Join a purpose driven company, where we’re striving to build the world we want tomorrow, today. - Best-in-class learning and development support from day one, including access to our in-house Mars University. - An industry competitive salary and benefits package, including company bonus.
