Intermediate level position responsible for assisting with a trading book and mitigating risk, in coordination with the Equities Trading team. The overall objective of this role is to process trades for a trading book and achieve revenue targets, execution of orders and management of risk positions. **Job Background** Part of the SA cash equity trading team that forms part of the CEEMEA franchise managed out of London. Will work closely with colleagues in SA, UK and NY. Will work as part of the trading platform in Johannesburg, which will require extensive interface with London to ensure that it is abreast of the latest technology offering and client requirements. Will have the opportunity to build relationships with institutional clients, both domestically and internationally. Expected to understand and manage risk effectively. **Key Responsibility** - Execution of Equity agency client orders - Generation of client business through “facilitation” and managing risk accordingly - Maximise retention ratios and delivery of “best execution” from client’s perspective - Trade a book and deliver on budgeted revenues and manage associated risk - Positioning book according to where we believe we can most effectively maximize commission - Demonstrate Discipline around trading positions, operational competence, high intensity work rate - Back-up regarding London and New York liquidity and arbitrage trading (ADRs and UK dual ordinary shares) - Back-up for the stock loan/borrowing functions of the business - Establish and maintain key internal and external relationships to deliver trades to the desk - Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe - Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by your role which will be communicated to you **Person Specific** - Detailed knowledge of capital markets, specifically listed equity - Relevant work experience with proven track record executing trades, managing risk and interacting with clients. - Recognised tertiary qualification - Post graduate / professional qualification(s) beneficial - South African Regulations: SAIFM modules. Successful completion of JSE trader Examination, Registered Trading ID beneficial. - Knowledge of Bloomberg, booking systems, trading protocol, SA Market technicalities **Required Skills**: - Advance knowledge of Excel - pivot tables, macros - Basic Knowledge of SQL, Python beneficial - Numerical competency is essential, as is a high work rate, goal - orientated mind-set and ability to thrive in a highly competitive environment - Dynamic self-starter - Good Communication skills - Motivated and Driven - Team Player - **Job Family Group**: Institutional Trading - **Job Family**: Trading - **Time Type**: Full timeCiti is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
