Our client provides a wide range of products and services to the steel industry in South Africa from their modern and comprehensive steel service centres and specialty steel divisions. They are looking to appoint a Maintenance Manager with 7+ years of experience to manage and coordinate the maintenance activities to improve reliability and performance.

**Position details**:
Permanent

Ensure compliance to safety, health, environmental and quality policies, and standards.

Plan, organise, lead and control maintenance work activities in both mechanical and electrical fields.

Assemble, install, repair, and maintain plant equipment as per OEM standards.

Responsible for planned and unplanned maintenance on machines.

Achieve and sustain equipment reliability levels to achieve OEE benchmarks.

Project design, planning and execution.

Optimise planned maintenance inspection cards to be predictive and preventative.

Management of sub-contractors including their safety and quality of work.

Training
- Develop team members with respect to equipment specifications, operating standards, and fault-finding.
- Develop tools / systems / processes to improve knowledge and skills transfer.
- Manage and assess the performance of individual team members.

Continuous Improvement
- Optimise maintenance processes to improve productivity and reliability.
- Root Cause Analysis of factors causing poor machine performance.
- Machine availability, break down performance, OEE, cost, continuous improvement.

**Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience**:
BSC Engineering (Mechanical) or BTech plus Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
:
Minimum 7 years with relevant work experience.

Relevant work experience includes reliability engineering, maintenance management, projects, and mechanical design.

Computer Literacy
- SAP, Microsoft suite and MS Projects.

Electrical and control engineering experience will be an advantage.

Metal processing or other heavy industry plant experience would be an advantage.

Experienced problem solver with strong analytical skills.

Sound knowledge of a maintenance and production environment.

Effectively plan, lead, organise and control work activities.

Work in and manage in a team environment.

Good relationship management and communication skills.

Effective transfer of knowledge and skills to subordinates and colleagues.

Ability to make teams perform at their best.
