Retail Operations Manager

Our client is a leading real estate investment fund listed on the JSE. Through the acquisition of well-positioned assets, this dynamic business has built up a strong and diversified portfolio consisting of commercial, retail and industrial assets. With a current portfolio exceeding R10 Billion, this versatile business also oversees the management of their assets in-house to ensure the delivery of premium service to their tenants. With capacity in their Gauteng based team, they are currently seeking a hard-working and technically inclined Retail Operations Manager to join the business. Reporting directly to the Head of Facilities, you will provide operational support and assist with the day-to-day operations of a large retail centre. Some of your duties will include, but not be limited to:
- To implement planned / preventative / emergency maintenance in conjunction with the Head of Facilities, as well as disaster and emergency planning.
- To manage the technical budget (Capex and R&M) including assisting with forecasts and budget variance reports.
- To ensure that compliance is maintained with building and statutory regulations, as per the Health and Safety Act and ASIB requirements, as well as internal systems updating
- To contribute to the SLAs for approved service providers in conjunction with the Procurement team.
- Manage and control all maintenance / stock control inventory / spares and tools
- To ensure that compliance is maintained with building and statutory regulations.
- To conduct inspections, including technical, housekeeping, service contracts and take on and take back inspections.
- To ensure that compliance is maintained with building and statutory regulations, as per the Health and Safety Act and ASIB requirements
- To prepare required technical and financial reports and feedback reports to management on issues, in conjunction with the Head of Facilities.
To qualify for this position, you will need to have a Matric Certificate, tertiary diploma/degree in real estate or Facilities management and have a minimum of 3 years’ Operations Management experience looking after retail portfolios. A solid understanding of the Health and Safety Acts and regulations, as well as building compliance is essentially to succeed in this role. Experience with MDA property software will be advantageous.
