**Purpose of the Job**:
The purpose of the Senior Manager: Learning Design and Development role is to provide comprehensive design and development solutions for the Shoprite Group. The role manages the practice integration and execution of the learning design & development portfolio servicing within a Supermarket, Complementary and Enabling business context. This role oversees project management components including the resource capacity demands in relation to learning design and development curriculum outcomes. This role also discerns the learning strategies in terms of delivery mechanisms and platforms of choice, in-house content development and/or outsourcing to specialised vendors and/or partnering with learning institutions or platforms to meet business capability needs. The Senior Manager: Learning Design and Development tracks the end-to-end design and development process in conjunction with curriculum and instructional designers working closely with multimedia designers who create effective visuals to support and enhance learning materials. The role also assesses learning content and materials to leverage user feedback or success of learning outcomes for continuous improvement.
**Job Objectives**:
**Employee Centric Delivery**:
Provide input into the Learning Strategy as required and execute the design and development of learning curriculum, instructional design, multimedia visual materials and other components that enhance the employee learning experience.
Overseeing the development of learning material in alignment with the Learning Strategy, creating a streamlined, effective process to enable cross-functional resource, template, and content utilisation.
Lead and guide the learning business partners in facilitating the learning needs consultation with business and establishing clear expectations and timelines.
Conducting and driving ongoing research to inform learning solution design and development.
Managing the definition and approach to learning solutions architecture and design.
Overseeing the development of learning solutions and curriculum structures.
Setting learning solution standards.
Establishing and managing the quality assurance mechanisms to ensure the ongoing improvement of learning solutions.
Establishing and managing the evaluation of learning solutions to ensure the ongoing alignment to best practices and successful learning outcomes as experienced by the users.
Ensuring moderation of learning solutions.
Managing the development of a consolidated roadmap of learning initiatives.
Overseeing the development of a consolidated training plan and working closely with other stakeholders to adjust and communicate accordingly to ensure alignment.
**People (Self, Team & Organisational)**:
Developing and leading the Learning Design & Development team to deliver solutions and services to the business.
Managing the enablement of an innovative, agile and employee centric culture where employees are supported, empowered, and valued within the Learning Design & Development team.
Managing the enablement of an employee wellness culture within the Learning Design & Development team to ensure that employees are supported mentally, physically, and emotionally.
Managing the enablement of a culture of open and transparent communication within the Learning Design & Development team to ensure that employees are informed of developments timeously.
**Financial, Reporting & BI**:
Developing and maintaining Learning Design & Development budgets and facilitating the necessary costing allocations.
Providing the first line approval of Learning Design & Development expenditure as defined in the delegation of authority ensuring effective cost controls and monitoring mechanisms.
Maintaining the Learning Design & Development cost management while balancing the need for optimal service delivery to employees and operations.
Driving the collection and use of people data and business intelligence to transform the delivery of Learning Design & Development solutions, services, and priorities.
**Governance & Compliance**:
Ensuring that the Learning Design & Development team complies with relevant labour relations frameworks and legislation.
Ensuring compliance to organisational and legislative governance frameworks and standards.
Implementing Learning Design & Development governance, structures, policies, processes, procedures, and frameworks.
Overseeing the identification and mitigation of key Learning Design & Development strategic and operational risks.
**Future-Fit**:
Supporting benchmarking of relevant external Learning Design & Development market trends to ensure that the Shoprite Group remains contemporary in Learning design practices, evolving internally as appropriate with technology enablement.
Ensuring integration and effective flow of work with other People and Operational teams.
