**_ Position Purpose:_**

maintenance of a SCADA system; ensuring a fit for purpose and functional Process Control System, developed to standards,

for the safe transportation and distribution of liquid Petroleum, Crude products and Gas for TRANSNET PIPELINES. Further

to this purpose is the effective and efficient execution of MC&I related projects (Maintenance and or Capital of Nature), the

compilation and or development of specifications, tender documentation, policies, standards and procedures.

The above include SME actions from high level interventions to detailed investigations, providing technical direction in the

implementation of standards, fault analysis and problem solving, provision of consultancy expertise to Major capital projects

such as NMPP and Tele-Control; impacting areas in the MCC/SCC, Pump Stations, Delivering/Intake Stations, workshops,

and Research & Development fields.

The managing, supervision, support, training, motivation and leading of subordinate/s as to achieve the above mentioned

company goals

**_ Position outputs:_**

a. Provide direction, supervision, engineering expertise and management facilitating the delivery of a compliant, functional

Process Control SCADA system

b. Compile specifications for MC&I Capital / Working projects, purchase, and construction of MC&I equipment; for use of own

Capital and Working projects, for use on Major Technical Projects and maintenance upgrade projects.

c. Management of Projects as and when required and to execute planned works.

d. Problem solving, investigations and R&D (internal and external) as required when a problem may arise so as to eliminate,

avoid or explain why problem occurred

e. Provide MC&I engineering support to Project Managers executing works involving MC&I engineering for which the

incumbent is responsible in terms of setting standards, commissioning and accepting equipment

f. Managing, supervising, directing, motivating and delegation of MC&I works as a support function.

g. Provide Investigative, analytic and diagnostic skills. These skills are required by management and senior management to

support decision making and actions.

h. Supervising a working group to achieve established results. Design, failure situations or maintenance related problems will

require the recommendations of a working group so as to achieve company goal.

**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**
- Qualifications: -National Diploma or degree in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science
- Knowledge: - National Diploma - 8 experience in control system development and engineering
- OR
- BSc/B.Eng. Degree with +2 years’ experience in control system development and engineering
- KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED- Linux/Unix
- C, C++, QT programming
- Oracle Database Engineering
- SCADA development and engineering
- Control & Instrumentation Standards, specifications, instructions and codes
- Metering and proving system Standards, specifications, instructions and codes
- Database Management
- Pipeline policies and procedures
- Legislation e.g. OSH Act + Hazardous area regulations.

- SAP PM, enterprise resource planning system and manufacturing execution system integration

- Understanding and ability to manipulate Schematics diagrams and typical design drawings.
