Mechanical Fitter

**About the Role**

A dynamic and growing engineering company based in Johannesburg is looking for a **qualified Mechanical Fitter** to join its team. The role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of heavy-duty machinery, mechanical systems, and plant equipment, particularly in the rigging, machine moving, and industrial environments.

This position may require travel to various job sites, working overtime, and availability on weekends and public holidays based on operational needs.**Key Responsibilities**
- Fit, assemble, install, and maintain mechanical components and equipment on-site and in workshops.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs or replacements as needed.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery.
- Use hand and power tools safely and correctly to complete mechanical tasks.
- Interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and specifications accurately.
- Work on pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, cranes, and rigging systems.
- Assist with strip-downs, rebuilds, and installations of machinery.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety standards on all projects.
- Complete job cards, inspection checklists, and maintenance records.
- Liaise with site supervisors and team leaders to ensure timely completion of work.

**Minimum Requirements**
- Recognised Trade Test**:Mechanical Fitter / Fitter & Turner (Red Seal)**.
- **3-5 years’ experience** in a similar role, preferably in a heavy industrial or rigging environment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and fault diagnosis.
- Experience working with hydraulic, pneumatic, and rotating equipment.
- Must be physically fit and able to work in demanding environments.
- Valid driver’s licence and own transport (preferred).
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours when required.

**Working Conditions**
- Workshop and site-based role with travel across Gauteng and surrounding provinces.
