Senior Lecturer: Agriculture Extension

**SENIOR LECTURER: AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION**

**Qualifications and requirements**:

- As a Senior Lecturer, PhD degree in Agricultural Extension is required.
- At least more than two (02) of relevant research, and teaching experience at

tertiary institution(s)
- Must be an active member of South African Society of Agricultural Extension

(SASAE) and other relevant international societies.
- Traceable experience in interaction with smallholder farmers at a University or

reputable organization (e.g. Departments of Agriculture and Rural

Development).
- Evidence of postgraduate supervision (Honours, Master and PhD) and

research publications in DHET-accredited journals,
- Evidence of the ability to establish the research collaborations and raise

research funds (third stream income)
- Experience of involvement in community engagement /Outreach or Evidence

of involvement in agricultural development /extension related projects or

programmes.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Teach Agricultural Extension modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate

levels.
- Undertake individual research or in collaboration with colleagues within or

outside the Department.
- Develop fundable research proposals in the Departmental niche/s areas to

student training and support.
- Supervise research project of undergraduate and postgraduate students in the

Department.
- Attend and read conference papers and publish in subsidy earning conference

proceeding, journal and/or books.
- Undertake community outreach activities as part of the University mandate.
- Serve in existing collaborations with the National and Provincial Departments

of Agriculture and Rural Developments.
- Perform any other duties/responsibilities that may be assigned by the Head of

Department.
