Senior Counsel Commercial

**Job Description Summary**: Lawyers and non-lawyers supporting the commercial side of the business including contract development and agreement management, external customer sales of products and services, government contracting. Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may influence work.

**Role & Responsibilities**:

- Operates as an integral member of the global GE Hydro Power legal team.
- Evaluates legal risks and develops procedures to mitigate such risks under the guidance of the GE Hydro Power General Counsel.
- Advises the regional GE Hydro Power teams in EMEA on a wide variety of legal issues related to the business’s operations and commercial transactions; provides contract review, negotiation and assistance on sales and service agreements.
- Provides legal support and advice on dispute management and resolution.
- Works closely with other functional leaders in the GE Vernova team to support related matters (including compliance, litigation, sourcing, IP etc.).
- Collaborates with commercial teams and assists in project and product development to support business objectives.
- Participates in business/deal reviews and deal approval meetings.
- Maintains independence as counsel while supporting the commercial teams in meeting their business objectives.
- Supports the commercial function in identifying the legal and contractual risks.
- Advises the business on related regulatory issues and compliance matters.
- Prepares and delivers updates on legal developments and requirements to various audiences and provides ongoing advice on applicable laws and regulations governing the commercial activities of GE Hydro Power in EMEA.
- Supports the Hydro Power General Counsel in managing legal budget including all outside counsel spend.
- Develops and maintains commercial legal policies and procedures and monitors to ensure compliance.
- Works with other counsels in GE Hydro Power and other GE Vernova businesses to develop best practices.
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of relevant industries in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business from a legal perspective.
- In addition to GE Hydro Power supports other businesses of GE Vernova and other initiatives as directed by the General Counsel of GE Hydro Power.

***Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s law degree from an accredited university plus an advanced degree or equivalent in the laws of a jurisdiction in EMEA
- Significant experience (12 years +) in project and construction law and general corporate law collected in a corporate legal department or a high-level law firm.
- Multi-jurisdiction experience in EMEA.
- Admitted to the bar in a jurisdiction within EMEA.
- Fluency in English is essential. Ability to work in other languages is a strong asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication and persuasive skills, including executive-level communication.
- Strong skills to lead teams with members from various functions for all legal aspects.
- Ability to integrate into such teams in a seamless manner.
- Strong problem-solving skills, clear and pro-active attitude towards identifying and implementing solutions.
- High degree of flexibility and resilience to work in a dynamic organization.
- Secure judgement as to what to report to the senior legal and commercial management.
- Ability to cope with high workload and to prioritize among numerous and various tasks.
