Production Team Leader

SplashOut has an exciting opportunity available for a Production Team Leader (Signage) to be based in Umhlanga, Durban. The successful incumbent will be responsible for seamless completion of the production process by monitoring production activity, identifying problems and effectively troubleshooting solutions. Effectively supervise the day-to-day operational running within the production to ensure successful execution of jobs whilst maintaining wastage, cost and quality standards. Ensure that there is compliance with all policies and procedures with strict adherence to control measures and health and safety requirements.
Minimum requirements
- Driver's License
- 3 years management / supervisory experience
- 3 years previous signage experience
- Geographical knowledge
Advantageous
- 3 years technical knowledge on printing and finishing
**Responsibilities**:
- ** Operational Function**
- Ensure that the artwork and layout of the designs are set up correctly and as per the client approval.
- Effectively control the running of the production line and processes.
- Ensuring service delivery times are met according to the customer requirements.
- Responsible for the production process from start to end.
- Ensure that all materials are readily available for the production process.
- Ensure that maintenance and cleaning of the machines are done timeously.
- Ensure that the most efficient maintenance and planning solutions are carried out to minimize the Company’s internal costs and Company down time.
- Effective communication between all relevant internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the team are kept up to date with any delays / challenges / changes throughout the day on the status of all jobs.
- Act as a point of contact where necessary with customers to troubleshoot or present innovative ideas based on their requirements as well as deal with any queries.
- Ensure that all routine data entries are captured, this includes but is not limited to printer logs, waste registers etc.
- Perform quality control checks before the job is dispatched.
- Assist with external contractors as required.
- Ensure all machinery is maintained and serviced according to the necessary requirements.
- Ensure the housekeeping standards are maintained.
- Responsible for the overall health and safety of the team.
- Ensuring regular training needs are identified and put forward to management and that the team are aware of the relevant department SOP’s.
- Actively train and develop the team to ensure cross-skilling and upskilling.
- Where necessary, fill in for the team members within the department if the need arises.
- Assist with: site inspections, installations, fabrication, assembly of signage as and when required.
- Assist with any other ad-hoc functions as required by management.

- Able to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks and achieve set targets.
- Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure impacts the production and customer order fulfilment.
- Able to work well under pressure and handle emergency and stressful situations.
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
**Compliance, risk and quality**
- Creating, maintaining and enforcing company policies and procedures.
- Compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Ensure final version and other documents are chronologically saved / backed up.
***Growth and new markets/products**
- Customer and supplier relationship management.
- Assist with company projects or lead company projects if specific to stock control.
- Automation and management of the ordering process using Pastel/HIS/Website.
