Head of Legal

Evergreen Property Developments, a division of South Africa’s leading Retirement Village Group is currently looking for a suitably qualified legal professional to head up the legal team based at our Head Office in Cape Town.

The Head of Legal is a key part of the senior management team and consists of the following responsibilities:

- Work closely with the Evergreen Group’s EXCO and Board of Directors.
- Manage all core legal functions of the Evergreen Group, including; commercial contracts, all litigation matters, conveyancing, company secretarial duties and corporate governance.
- Review, draft, negotiate and implement a variety of commercial contracts, including but not limited to; financing agreements, property acquisition and development agreements, service level agreements, sale agreements, life right agreements and healthcare agreements.
- Manage all litigation matters including working closely with external attorneys and counsel.
- Maintain close relationships with funding banks and ensuring that all funding requirements of the are met.
- Support the Sales and Finance Teams to ensure that sales targets are aligned with cash flow forecasts.
- Oversee all conveyancing matters of the Evergreen Group including land acquisitions, bond registrations, life right sales and third-party sales.
- Support the Sales, Developments, Finance and Operations Teams to achieve the Evergreen Group’s commercial objectives.
**Requirements of the role**:
We are looking for an admitted attorney, with a LLB / LLM degree and 5 - 10 years substantive legal post-article experience.

To successfully fulfil the role experience across a broad variety of legal and business matters is necessary.

We also require commercial experience, conveyancing experience and extensive experience in property matters.

As this role forms part of the senior management team, applicants must possess 5 or more years leadership experience.
