An excellent opportunity has become available for a Contract Manager, within a leader in the Construction / Mining environment. The position is based in Congo, DRC.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Building Science, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or any other relevant discipline; B. Tech-Civil / PG in management, law, or QS
- Should be familiar with both contract execution and contract administration
- Excellent command of the English language and drafting abilities in English. Because a construction contract manager is needed to work with a diverse group of people, including subcontractors, contractors, architects, and suppliers, he or she must have strong verbal and writing communication skills
- Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities and the ability to effectively communicate with project team members and management
- Technical understanding of construction, as he or she will be required to deal with complex and detailed projects
- Excellent problem-solving skills, as he or she will be required to deal with multiple projects from the head office in a construction or infrastructure company
- Technical understanding of construction, as he or she will be required to know building codes, trade sequencing, and best construction practices

- Administration Procedures:
- A meeting to be held with Director, commercial director, Q.S, Site Agent/Contracts manager, Buyer and Safety officer prior commencement of site works and to finalise the following:
- Preliminaries and General (P&G) allowables
- Labour Resourcing
- Plant and equipment
- Better buying on materials
- Sub-contractors rates (Domestic, Selected / Nominated)
- Intricacies and technicalities regarding the contract.
- Discuss and plan site establishment
- Establish a pre-contract budget which will be the new financial bench mark for the contract
- Contractual issues
- Staffing
- Health and Safety
- Programme
- Meetings as per the Year planner
- Pre-contract meetings as and when required (Standard Format)
- Ensure all sub-contractors appointments are done timeously (Standard Format)
- Site Administration:
- Contract File
- Sub-Contractors File
- Orders File
- Contract Health and Safety File
- Contracts Programme
- Daily report back
- Contract Instructions
- Completion Lists
- Completion Certificates
- Hand Over procedures
- Site Management:
- Ensure the site establishment is arranged as per the pre-contracts planning / layout
- Manage the contract program on a daily basis
- Sub-contractors control and management
- Conduct sub-contractors meetings on a weekly basis
- Manage and control waste on a daily basis
- Manage and control quality on a daily basis
- Ensure the necessary concrete testing is done
- Ensure the necessary compaction tests are done
- Ensure the levels and datums are correct
- Ensure at all times the site is working off the latest revision drawings
- Ensure the correct specifications are used
- Ensure the setting out is as per the levels and the drawings
- Ensure the setting out equipment was serviced in advance before using.
- Ensure the correct materials are used
- Manage and control materials on site
- Manage and control the Plant and Equipment allowables
- Manage and control the Labour allowables
- Ensure the correct ratio for the mix is applied and recorded

- Manage and control the practical completion process and resolved as soon as possible

- Safety Management:
- Ensure you adhere to safety standards and rules set out by the company
- Take reasonable care for the health and safety of himself / herself and of other persons who may be affected by his / her omissions
- If any situation which is unsafe or unhealthy comes to his / her attention, as soon as practicable report such situation to the employer or to the health and safety representative
- If you are involved in any incident which may affect your health or which has caused an injury to yourself, report such incident to the employer before end of shift.
- Identify hazards and risks, assess the related risks within your area of responsibility so that you mitigate or minimize to ensure that employees under your charge are kept safe and healthy
- Consider an employee's training and capabilities in respect of health and safety before assigning tasks to that employee
- Ensure that all employees are wearing Personnel Protective Equipment relevant to their tasks
- Provide and maintain a working environment that is safe / healthy / environmental friendly and without risk to the employees
