Discovery Technician

**SUMMARY AND PRIMARY OBJECTIVES**

The Discovery Technician is responsible for data integration support, system serviceability, performance and maintenance, continuity and system configuration.

**SCOPE OF WORK: DELIVERABLES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES**
- Data Integration Support - Run validation checks to confirm that the BMC Discovery Solution is synced to the source systems. Escalate unauthorized changes line management Incident Management process. Identify and analyze exceptions.
- Maintain System or Component Serviceability - Monitoring the availability or serviceability of designated systems and components.
- Monitor Performance and utilisation of the BMC Discovery solution components, as well as remediate all performance issues and log to maintenance service.
- Monitor and review release notes for software fixes and upgrades released by the OEMs of the BMC Discovery Solution.
- Source and obtain the software fixes and upgrades, for the BMC Discovery Solution for QA testing if needed.
- Maintain record of all release notes and relevant information of deployed patches or upgrades deployed, available for review by Vodacom from time to time.
- Monitor the provisioning of product revisions, upgrades and fixes as provided by OEM’s of the supported solution (included in the BMC Discovery Solution)

**Qualifications and Experience Requirements**
- Experience working with BMC Atrium Discovery and Dependency mapping
- Experience working with BMC Remedy AR system
- 3-5 years’ experience in multi-disciplined IT environment
- CMDB administration skills
- Experience in using structured methodologies of Incident, Problem, Capacity and Availability management
- Advanced network knowledge
