**Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the Department of Music and Musicology**
**Main Objectives**
All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), creation of knowledge (research) and community engagement, recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties. Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty and/or University level.
The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in African Music will be responsible for the teaching, learning and knowledge creation and dissemination of African and other indigenous musics at the Department of Music and Musicology. They will furthermore seek to grow, with the support of colleagues, this aspect of the Department’s offering to be the foremost programme of its kind.

Basic Pensionable Salary per annum: R600,141.00
Cost to Company per annum (Approximately): R784,132.00
**Senior Lecturer**
Basic Pensionable Salary per annum: R742,411.00
Cost to Company per annum (Approximately): R960,928.00
Rhodes University has a vaccination mandate as part of its Conditions of Service. The implementation of the vaccine mandate has been held in abeyance from 01 January 2023.
