The Dispute Resolution Centre of the Motor Industry Bargaining Council (“DRC”) is an independent Dispute Resolution Body accredited by the CCMA to resolve Labour disputes that fall within the scope of activity of the Retail Motor Sector. The DRC has offices staffed by permanent Managing Commissioners in Randburg, Pretoria, Pinetown, and Cape Town. The position advertised herein is at the Kwazulu-Natal office of the DRC. The successful applicant must, however, be prepared to travel to other provinces if and when required to do so.
**Purpose of the position**:Responsible for overseeing the Dispute Resolution Function of the DRC in the KwaZulu Natal Region that includes the management of staff and Part-time Commissioners and administration in respect of various service providers to support the operations of the DRC.
**Major responsibilities / accountabilities**
- Effectively manage the Kwazulu Natal office of the DRC within the budgetary parameters as set by the DRC Director
- Manage the Kwazulu Natal office in line with the strategic objectives of the Motor Industry Bargaining Council, policies, and procedures
- Maintain the DRC’s position as a high-performing dispute resolution body that services the needs and interests of parties within the Industry.
- Conduct Conciliation and Arbitrations
- Oversee all S143 Applications and Reviews
- Provide ad hoc training, guidance and support to DRC Staff and stakeholders
- Respond to complaints and queries
- Ensure adequate capacity to attend to DRC processes
**Requirements / Experience**
- CCMA accreditation is a paramount requirement
- Post-graduate qualification in Labour Law and relevant HR or IR experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing disputes within a Bargaining Council or CCMA
- High-level knowledge of Labour Court processes and procedures
- Previous people management experience
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
- Basic knowledge of the MIBCO Collective Agreements will be an advantage
- Working knowledge of the CCMA Case Management System would be an advantage
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to consistently meet performance targets
- Valid Driver’s License
- Admission as an attorney/ advocate would be an advantage
**Skills / Competencies**
- Proven track record as Conciliator and Arbitrator
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of Employment Law including knowledge of the various Labour Relations Statutes
- Attention to detail
