**PURPOSE OF ROLE**

Lesedi seeks to appoint a senior legal counsel with specialised experience in the project and construction environment.

**KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS**
- Oversee Legal Policy implementation throughout the organisation.
- Review external contracts to manage risk to acceptable limits and norms
- Perform research and provide legal opinion
- Manage the dispute resolution process on all contracts (including the preparation of adjudication and arbitration referrals and rebuttals) (L)
- Provide guidance with respect to contractual implications regarding Capex and Opex aspects for Project Finance (L).
- Commercial issues and partnering strategies (S)
- Draft and review required contracts for business development department (L)
- Review the commercial and legal aspects of RFI enquiries (L)
- New strategies and support on BBBEE compliance and localisation (S)
- Negotiate principal contracts with Clients (L)
- Oversee the implementation of the Project Risk Management Procedure (L & S)
- Prepare and negotiate subcontracts and supplier agreements (L)
- Contract management - support (drafting and reviewing communications) (S)
- Claims and variation management - avoiding time barring and notice management (S)
- Performing contract audits (L)
- Managing project securities (S)
- Providing training where necessary (L)
- Manage the corporate insurance portfolio (L)

**QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Post Graduate degree in Law (LLB)
- Admitted as an attorney to the High Court of South Africa
- Post graduate qualifications related to the energy and construction sector (preferred).
- 5 - 10 years post article experience
- 5 - 10 years industry specific experience
- NEC and FIDIC Standard Form Contract knowledge and experience
