Reuters is looking for a dynamic and talented visuals producer to join our busy operation in South Africa. You will help deliver breaking and planned news coverage to more than 1,000 broadcasters and hundreds of digital outlets around the world. You will be part of an energetic multimedia team and work closely with video, text and still photo counterparts in Southern, West, East and Central Africa. You will have outstanding news judgement and will be confident handling breaking news as well as pitching stories that go beyond the headlines. You will also be able to shoot video and photos, edit and write to very tight deadlines.
This is a full-time role that demands flexibility to work long hours and some weekends and will report to the Senior Producer for Sub-Saharan Africa.

**As our trusted Visuals Producer you will**:
- Have a keen eye for visual story-telling and the ability to shoot and edit footage within tight deadlines
- React quickly to breaking news offering live cover as appropriate
- Produce tight, well-written accurate news copy to deadline
- Pitch story ideas which also translate well for digital and broadcast platforms
- Plan and produce content that distinguishes us from our competitors
- Work as part of a multimedia team that covers events, starting from the planning phase through to field work
- Proactively source user-generated content and other 3rd party material, especially for breaking news
- Have the confidence and sharp decision-making skills needed to deputise occasionally for the Senior Producer
- Travel domestically and internationally at short notice, including to hostile environments
- Coordinate between Visuals and Text teams
- Help create and maintain planning entries
- Have a broad knowledge of ethics in journalism
- Uphold Reuters Trust Principles of independence, integrity and freedom from bias
- Solid editorial experience in either a broadcast, agency or digital newsroom
- Excellent news judgment, with a clear vision of what makes a compelling visual story
- Advanced camera and video editing and script writing skills
- Full, clean driving license
- Thorough understanding of the latest digital video technologies for filming, editing, transmitting and sharing video
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships quickly
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Ability to drive speed and accuracy
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Excellent command of English - written and oral
