Requirements
- An LLB degree and admission as an Attorney or Advocate (Passed

Bar Examination).
- A minimum of five (5) years’ post-admission relevant experience
- Experience in a relevant legal environment
- Computer literacy
- Sound knowledge of local government, legislation, policies and

procedures.
- A valid Code driver’s licence
- Proven experience in commercial contract drafting and vetting, as

well as advisory functions related to commercial contracts.

Key Performance Areas
- Provide high level, specialist legal advice and opinions to line

departments in respect of legal issues arising from the interpretation,

implementation, and management of commercial and other

contracts.
- Consult, research, draft, vet and amend contracts, specifically,

procurement contracts, according to relevant specification,

legislation, policy and delegated authority utilising approved

precedents.
- Manage the resolution of legal disputes arising from contracts at

court and other forums and ensure adequate protection of the City’s

interests.
- Attend to correspondence and enquiries regarding services and

ongoing legal projects.
- Provide guidance and input on changes to City supply chain
- Policies and ancillary procurement related polices and special

projects.
- Draft and develop templates for supply chain management

contracts.
