Community Liaison Officer

**Job Purpose**:
Provide a laison service between the street traders and council.

This post reports to AREA MANAGER

**Key Responsibility Areas**:
Supervises the operations of street traders operating within the restricted trading area.

Ensures trading takes place in accordance with approved policy as determined from time to time.

Keeps the Area Manager informed of developments or changes that are taking place within their area of development.

Assist and help set up basic training of street traders with respect to e.g. hygiene, overcrowding and monitors traders practices and assists where necessary.

Deals with conflicts and complaints and submits written reports to Area Manager.

Checks payment of rentals and issuing of warning letters in the event of non-payment.

Establish and maintain good relationships with formal businesses operating within their area of responsibility.

Liaises with contractors on site while building works is taking place with regard to the movement of traders to temporary sites.

Reports maintenance problems with regard to structures, sidewalks etc to the Area Manager.

Relieves Permit Officer at front counter from time to time.

**Essential Requirements**:
Relevant 3 year tertiary qualification.

Peace Officer Certificate or to be obtained within 6 months of assumption of duty.

Valid motor vehicle drivers license (Code B).

3 Years relevant experience.

Computer Literacy.

**Preferred Requirements**:
Fluency in isiZulu.

4 Years relevant experience.
