The Cantare Children’s Choir provides choral music education of the highest quality to young people who represent richly diverse cultural backgrounds.

Through the beauty of inspired and joyful singing, the Cantare Children’s Choir brings the transformative power of music to communities throughout Southern Gauteng Region, South Africa and the world.
**The Organization**
Since its founding in 1995, the Cantare Children’s Choir has provided choral music training for more than 1700 children and has established a reputation as one of South Africa’s leading children’s choirs and organization.
From ages 6-19, children from across the region come together to become world-class
singers through hard work, dedication, and passion. Their experiences with CCC transform children into highly accomplished musicians while teaching such critical life skills as self-discipline, collaboration, cultural understanding, and the value of striving for personal excellence.
CCC annually produces professional quality concerts; collaborates with world-class arts organizations; and tours regionally, nationally, and internationally. The organization additionally offers a vibrant program of community engagement, professional development opportunities for music educators.
**Position Summary**
The Choir Manager reports to the Board and works closely with the Executive Director and Board who are the administrative leaders of the organization, providing vision,
strategic direction, and oversight of CCC resources to ensure success in carrying out the organization's mission.
The manager, together with the Executive Director/s has responsibility and accountability for the administrative and managerial operations in support of the CCC’s artistic day to day operations.
A proven leader demonstrating effective decision-making and strategic thinking, the Manager will have strong vision and superior leadership skills, will be fully capable of executing the organizations Long Term Plan, and will be prepared to guide CCC with vision, creativity, and inspired action.
**Reporting Relationship and Key Working Relationships**
The Manager report directly to the Board Chair/ Executive Director and interacts with the Board for matters related to organizational governance as described in CCC's constitution.
**Persons directly reporting to the Manager include**:
Office Staff members
Conductors
Special Projects Coordinators, (Parents’ Committees) and other volunteers
**Performance Expectations**:
The member is responsible for the management of business operations of CCC as follows:
**LEADERSHIP** - The Manager is the primary source for the managerial operations of the organization.
**VISION** - The Manager makes sure that the mission, goals, and objectives of CCC are implemented.
**GUIDANCE** - Manager implements and manages strategic and tactical plans of the business operations of CCC within the framework of collaboration with the artistic leadership.
**Areas of Oversight**
1. Running day-to-day operations
2. Managing Staff and Volunteers
3. Events Planning - Parent’s Committee and Artistic Committee
4. Year Program & Tour Planning with Artistic Director/Choir Leaders
5. Build Relationships with Schools Contact for Auditions
6. Fiscal Management (with Board Finance Committee)
7. Publicity/Marketing of concerts and events in collaboration with the Board Marketing and Fundraising Committee)
8. Well-being of choir members
**Position Qualifications**:
**Education**:
Studies, knowledge and training in relevant field desirable
Coursework, workshops, seminars in non-profit arts administration desirable
**Work Experience**:
Prior experience as a non-profit executive director or other
senior position in a non-profit arts organization is desirable.
**Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
Passion for performing arts and arts administration
Previous experience working with non-profit boards and governance policies
and practices
Superb written and verbal communication skills
Proactive communication style, diplomatic, genuine, articulating consistent messages
Effective public speaker, projecting energy and enthusiasm, and comfortable with public visibility
Clear evidence of leadership skills, interpersonal comfort and operational success at a senior level and in interactions with Board members, potential donors, external advisors, colleagues, staff, choristers, and families
Expertise in financial management and analysis
Working knowledge of information technology and social media
History of building positive professional and community relations, demonstrated commitment to professional relations development and community involvement and leadership
