Our client, a large manufacturer, solution provider, repairer, maintainer and distributor of electro mechanical equipment in Africa is actively sourcing for a Warehouses Inventory Manager to join their team.**Purpose of the Role**
The Warehouse/Inventory Manager is responsible for managing the warehouses team and overseeing the accurate recording, tracking, and transferring of inventory, both physically and through the enterprise resource planning system.
This position works independently, cross-functionally, and within a team environment. Failure to effectively manage the company’s inventory could impact the company’s production efficiencies, revenues and customer management relationships.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Manage a team of warehouse & inventory supervisors, ensuring compliance with all warehouse processes and procedures.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all inventory transactions.
- Responsible for managing inventory management database, including the receipt, recording, and delivery of all purchased materials.
- Work closely with Procurement & Production Departments.
- Ensure all warehousing and inventory control objectives are met, including inventory turn ratios, on-hand accuracy, lowering inventory valuation, and management of obsolete inventory.
- Serve as a liaison with other departments, often working cross-functionally in between the Procurement Dept, Finance Dept, Commercial Dept & Sales Dept for demand planning
- Supervise warehouse staff and work load by prioritizing and delegating work assignments and monitoring productivity and work quality.
- Training of warehouse and inventory staff.
- Develop demand forecasts based on demand patterns and business trends.
- Utilize the ERP system reports to support optimum stock level.
- Provide inventory information to the Operations Manager.
- Ensure cycle counts are completed timeously and accurately and conduct periodic physical stock counts.
- Creates new part numbers when new products/items are offered.
- Issue weekly & monthly reports as requested by Management,
- Perform any other reasonable duties required by the designated Line Manager.
**SHERQ Management (ISO9001, ISO14001 & ISO45001)**
- Responsible for adhering to the requirements of abovementioned systems as directed by the SHEQ Management System (which includes relevant legislation, Policies, Procedures, Work Instructions, specifications, etc.)
- Ensure that Quality Assurance is conformed to in every aspect, especially in the area of documentation control.
- Ensures compliance with all standards for Safety, Health, Environmental, Work Procedures and Quality.
- Assurance and Quality Control systems as adopted by the High Voltage Equipment Division.
**Minimum experience & qualifications required**
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or other relevant fields.
- Certificate in Planning and Inventory Management (CIPM)
- 5-10 years’ experience in a demand planning/forecasting/inventory controller role within a manufacturing/ engineering organization.
- Solid understanding of inventory management practices and procedures
- Expert knowledge on Syspro (ERP)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is a necessity
**Behavioural skills required**
- In-depth knowledge of inventory management principles and best practices.
- Extensive experience in supply chain data analysis.
- Outstanding communication skills (written and oral); including a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is a necessity.
- Strong time management / prioritization skills and ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines.
- A stable career history with a demonstrable track record of success.
- Exposure to the industrial/automotive/ steel and engineering manufacturing sectors is compulsory
- Strong business and financial acumen.
- Strong written & oral English language skill.
- Excellent attention to detail.
