Portfolio Management

**Job purpose**

Be a part of the PM team and help manage and grow a portfolio of high-growth, early stage venture investments for Edge Growth’s group of managed funds.

Edge Growth’s portfolio management approach takes an archetype lens, whereby investee companies are categorized into particular archetypes.

The Delta archetype focuses on our more traditional venture capital, start-up investee businesses, taking a strong strategic and expansion / growth lens. This role focuses solely within the Delta archetype, supporting the deal owners and working with the team to develop and maintain best practice venture capital deal management.

The Delta PM Associate will also work with the team to recommend and constantly improve the internal Delta archetype management model.

This person is a self-starter, who feels a strong sense of ownership in their work and has excellent team and interpersonal skills.

**Core activities**:
**Portfolio Management**
- Develop and maintain best practice venture capital deal management and assist in building the Delta management model
- Work with deal owners to ensure strong, strategic management to their investee companies
- Work with the team to build a strong Delta portfolio of investee companies
- Support the Delta archetype, as required.
- Deliver value-added assistance to the Delta portfolio companies, including:

- o Detailed financial analysis, modelling and valuations
- Assistance in strategy development
- Execution management
- Business building support
- Access to new markets
- Raising capital
- Special projects to unlock value
- Assist with internal deal top-ups and third party funding rounds within the Delta portfolio
- Work with deal owners to leverage networks to source fundraising and exit opportunities
Help ensure that financial reporting, systems and processes of portfolio companies meet required standards and assist in driving performance management in portfolio companies
- Assist in the delivery of special projects to unlock strategic value in portfolio companies
- Manage draw-down processes for additional capital to be deployed into portfolio companies
Assist with the preparation of regular portfolio updates to the relevant committees and compile other reports to stakeholders as required from time to time.
- Assist in the preparation of a consolidated portfolio review report on a regular basis
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the PM lessons learnt database and records

**Governance**
- Ensure effective governance and best practice within portfolio companies

**Monitoring and Compliance**
- Assist the Investee Compliance Officer with the preparation of all monitoring and compliance investee related information and deliverables

**Legal**
- Provide ongoing analysis, interpretation and compliance in terms of the legal agreements relating to the portfolio companies that you are responsible for

**Operations and Admin**
- Help the PM Partner to improve internal processes, procedures and policies to improve the Delta archetype best practice delivery to Edge Growth, the various funds under management and the market
- Embrace the ethos of continual improvement in identifying and driving initiatives to enhance or re-engineer existing processes to increase efficiency in the Delta archetype management process

**Qualifications and Experience**
- At least a graduate degree, preferably with a technical and / or quantitative emphasis (finance, engineering, accounting, law, etc.)
- An MBA, CA(SA) or CFA degree would be advantageous
- Venture capital investing experience - preferably in the post-investment and equity environment
- 3-5+ years in an investment or finance environment, preferably within a reputable investment firm

Alternatively:

- 3-5+ years in a business consulting firm, with a bias towards financial modelling, business strategy and execution
- 3-5+ years in a top tier accounting firm with experience in auditing company/ies in the investment sector
