We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our dynamic team as the Deputy Director of Research & Development in the relevant industry. As the second-in-command in our R&D division, you will play a crucial role in shaping our product innovation, ensuring quality, and maintaining our position as a leader in the manufacturing sector.

**Responsibilities**:

- Collaborate with the Director of R&D to drive the ideation and development of innovative products, fabrics, and production processes.
- Lead research initiatives to identify new materials, technologies, and design trends relevant to the relevant industry.
- Oversee the development and implementation of quality control measures for products, ensuring adherence to industry standards and customer expectations.
- Work closely with production teams to address quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
- Work in tandem with garment designers to translate creative concepts into feasible and production-ready designs.
- Ensure effective communication between the design and R&D teams to bring innovative concepts to market.
- Explore and integrate cutting-edge technologies into garment production, such as sustainable practices, smart têxtiles, and automation.
- Drive the adoption of digital tools that enhance efficiency and precision in garment manufacturing.
- Conduct market research to stay abreast of fashion trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activities.
- Provide insights to the Director of R&D to inform strategic decision-making and product development.
- Assist in managing the end-to-end lifecycle of R&D projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, marketing, and sales, to integrate R&D efforts into the overall business strategy.
- Support the Director of R&D in budget planning and resource allocation for research initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the relevant Industry R&D department.
- Collaborate with legal teams to protect intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, and proprietary designs.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in têxtile engineering, fashion technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in R&D within the garment industry, with a focus on product development and innovation.
- Strong project management skills, with a track record of successfully delivering R&D projects in a garment manufacturing context.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- In-depth knowledge of garment production processes, materials, and industry trends.
- Familiarity with sustainability practices and a commitment to environmentally conscious garment manufacturing.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to contribute to the development of the R&D roadmap and align it with business objectives.

**Salary**: R35,000.00 - R40,000.00 per month
