**Role Purpose**
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis across investment opportunities, model portfolios, and fund of funds structures, as well as assisting in client portfolio analysis to ensure alignment with investment objectives, risk parameters, and market conditions. The Analyst will support the Portfolio Manager, actively participate in investment discussions, assess and enhance the hedge fund strategies, maintain and analyse data on South African Hedge Funds, and contribute to Alternative Investment processes.

**Requirements**:
**Qualifications**:

- Degree in Investment Management (or equivalent)
- Good progress in post-decree studies (eg, CAIA or Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA))will be an advantage.

**Experience & Knowledge**:

- 0-2 years of experience in the investment industry.
- Hedge fund exposure would be advantageous.
- Solid understanding of financial markets.
- Strong quantitative skills would be an advantage (Excel skills, R/Python knowledge and experience in investment-related tools (Morningstar, Barra).

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Keep abreast of external developments and market intelligence in which the segment operates, and complete competitor analysis to assess the strengths and weaknesses of current and potential competitors.
- Analyze investment portfolios and financial instruments based on the outcomes and requirements of the mandate and business requirements, covering both model portfolios and fund of funds in the environment.
- Ensure that the portfolio management and risk management processes are applied.
- Monitor existing hedge funds in which the business is invested and track information for these strategies.
- Perform comprehensive due diligence on new funds, & funds within our investable universe. The due diligence analysis includes understanding the mechanics of the strategy, the drivers of performance and the risk sources. Analysis includes both quantitative and qualitative assessment and required the development of quantitative tools to augment the process.
- Prepare written findings on hedge fund manager engagements.
- Track and maintain single-manager portfolio information.
- Track and assess risk data and assist in enhancing quantitative models.
- Ongoing research and development, of which findings are presented back to the investment team.
- Assist portfolio manager with daily portfolio management responsibilities.
- Make recommendations to enhance the investment mandates to increase profitability or cost effectiveness of the investment solution.
- Monitor and report on portfolio performance across the range.
- Assist with Adcock projects, updating marketing material and presentations as required.
- Collaborate and participate in multi-disciplinary teams in Momentum Investments.
- Maintain continuous professional development to ensure upskilling and keeping abreast and ahead.
- Contribute to innovation, change agility and collaboration within the team.
- Build broad base financial models to support investment decision making and determine potential financial consequences of investment decisions.
- Provide input into the risk identification processes and communicate recommendations in the appropriate forum.
- Identify and develop independent research techniques to enhance research output.
- Engage with key internal to identify changing client needs and make recommendations to align service offering with client needs.
