Our client based in Westonaria requires an experienced Occupational Health and Safety Officer.

The successful incumbent's responsibility would include but would not be limited to the below:

- Daily site visits to monitor all safety aspects on all relevant sites.
- Weekly inspections on all supervisor safety files of all sites.
- Daily inspections of all mine licences in order to verify if all is approved and correct.
- Daily inspection and updating of all safety boards on sites.
- Weekly meetings with safety reps regarding all new safety aspects that was received from the mine.
- Daily feedback to management of all work escalated and completed for the day.
- Risk assessments to be drafted on all new projects.
- Relevant staff sign off risk assessments and discuss in full.
- Regular site meetings with site supervisors to discuss all new and current safety topics.
- Signing of all safety files on all the sites and issues discussed with the relevant supervisor.
- Training on all level to the supervisors relevant to their task and site.
- Attend all compulsory meetings set by the Mine and give feedback to management as well as to the staff.
- Mine licences and appointments must get approval and filed after approval and handed to each individual on all sites.
- Managing and coordinating the First Aid Training process if applicable to new appointment, make sure that expired certificates have been updated and new training facilitated.
- Monthly management meeting feedback of all site incidents and accidents and new procedures implemented to prevent same.
- Meetings to be scheduled regarding Health and Safety of staff and the environment and feedback given accordingly.
- Inspection of all road traffic signs on specific sites that is relevant to the risk assessment and rectify accordingly.
- Monthly traffic management plans to be updated and corrected and approved by the Mine's management and sign off by all relevant staff allocated to specific sites.
- Provide SHE improvement proposals, proposed corrective action, required resources for corrective action and plan of implementation of NCR's issued.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly SHE reports
- Compile and submit investigation reports
- Communication of emergency plans to all staff
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience required strictly in a mining or construction environment
- Must be computer literate
- Tertiary education in Occupational Health and Safety would be an added advantage.

Ability to commute/relocate:
