Professional Officer- Occupational Health and Safety

Requirements
- First degree and/or specialist qualifications related to occupational
health and safety management or a health and safety qualification
that is on the same NQF level as the first degree
- Minimum two (2) to five (5) years’ relevant experience
- Working knowledge of relevant Acts and Regulations pertaining to
Occupational Health and Safety
- Knowledge of and experience in ISO 45001 will be an advantage
- Code EB driver’s licence
Key Performance Areas
- Facilitate HIRA workshops/ training for HIRA teams, including
members of health and safety committees
- Develop an annual health and safety assessment plan for each
**Directorate in liaison with the Head**: Occupational Safety and assist
with development of risk management action plans
- Conduct legal compliance audits to determine compliance with
the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the
City of Cape Town’s OHS management system
- Compile audit reports on the findings and recommendations for
consideration to eradicate identified hazards/minimise the impact of
risks
- Assist line management with the establishment and maintenance of
a health and safety committee system
- Conduct section 24 and 25 specialised incident investigations
- Conduct both unplanned and scheduled inspections
- Liaise with line management, HASReps and HASComs to develop
corrective and/or preventive measures for identified noncompliance
- Facilitate projects and participating in the development of projects,
systems and processes
- Ensure records management on SAP EHS, manually or electronically,
of all documents and investigations
- Communicate to both internal and external clients of the
Department/ Branch
- Assist with and facilitate workshops on the H&S programme as well
as building capacity with line managers to implement the H&S
