Role Purpose
Coordinate the delivery of health and safety initiatives to ensure compliance with health and safety laws and regulations and ensuring a safe working environment for Momentum Metropolitan employees.
Requirements
- Matric
- A valid qualification in occupational health and safety (Samtrac or equivalent)
- 2-3 years’ experience in a SHE role
- Risk assessment experience
- Exposure to site inspections and investigations
- In-depth understanding of and the ability to interpret OHS-related legislation
- Valid driver’s licence
Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate, implement, and monitor OHS processes, guidelines, objectives and practices.
- Identify, report and monitor the resolution of potential hazards and critical safety issues in the workplace.
- Manage and take ownership of queries by resolving, assigning, directing or escalating it.
- Proactively manage SLA’s by using tracking systems effectively and completing tasks within acceptable and allocated time frames.
- Manage the financial administration function for the OHS department by processing invoices, expenses and other financial transactions within agreed timeframes and in line with finance processes. Consolidate and report on all financial transactions.
- Provide administrative support and coordination for health and safety events and meetings, training sessions and evacuation exercises.
- Escalate faults and other housekeeping issues and ensure queries are resolved within the given timeframes.
- Keep record of all training on database, validity periods and ensuring that OHS officials remain compliant.
- Capture first aid and injury on duty incidents on database to enable record keeping and reporting in line with regulations. Assist with emergencies and incident investigation.
- Update user and branch list, extract reports and checklists from Momentum Metropolitan’s health and safety management system and ensuring that the system is used by all OHS officials.
- Compile and present reports to the relevant stakeholders aligned with compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Drafting emergency procedure plans, follow-up on outstanding items and liaising with all stakeholders to ensure implementation thereof.
- Responsible for monthly first aid stock taking and reporting and ensuring there is sufficient stock at offices and branches.
- Conducting safety inspections and risk assessments and monitoring compliance with safety legislation.
- Assistance with COVID-19 protocols and other ad hoc projects
- Proactively build and manage relationships with stakeholders such as facilities management, HC Community, line management and volunteers.
