**Job Overview**

The Gardener is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the vegetable garden, the orchard, tunnels and general garden, ensuring optimal growth and harvest of crops while promoting sustainable gardening practices. This role requires leadership, knowledge of horticulture, and a passion for organic farming.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Vegetable Garden Management**:

- Plan, plant, and maintain a diverse range of vegetable crops.
- Prepare and maintain vegetable beds

**Monitor**:

- Plant health and manage pest control and weeds using organic methods.
- Monitor and water all plants in the tunnels
- Schedule and oversee irrigation and fertilization practices

**Orchard Management**:

- Monitor health of trees and fruit
- Manage organic pest control
- Schedule and oversee irrigation fertilization practices

**General Garden**
- Maintain general flower beds
- Cut lawns
- Maintain perimeter edges

**Team Leadership**:

- Supervise and train garden staff and volunteers. Patient.
- Delegate tasks and ensure efficient workflow within the garden team.
- Conduct regular team meetings to discuss progress and challenges.

**Harvesting and Distribution**:

- Coordinate the timing and methods of harvesting crops.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and distribution of harvested vegetables.
- Collaborate with local markets, or community programs for sales and distribution.

**Record Keeping**:

- Maintain accurate records of planting schedules, crop yields, and pest management.
- Prepare reports on garden productivity and any challenges faced.

**Container Tool Shed**
- Manage and control all tools

**Job Type**: Temporary
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: R7 000,00 - R8 000,00 per month
