Department University of Venda -> Vice Chancellor and Principal -> Deputy Vice Chancellor: Teaching and Learning -> Library Services Job Title METADATA SPECIALIST B240 Post Level Grade 8 Job Type Support - Univen Funded Closing Date Job Requirements **Requirements**: A Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science (LIS), or any Bachelor’s degree accompanied by a Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Science. - An Honours degree and prior experience working in an academic library will be considered advantageous. - A minimum of four years of relevant professional experience.**Duties**: - Maintains the catalogue for all books and library items in Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Humanities, Social Sciences & Education, Management, Commerce & Law and Health Sciences. - Cataloguing materials, including authority work, in accordance with national/local and international standards, policies and procedures, to provide bibliographic access to the library's collection - Copy and original cataloguing of library materials, including media, books, serials, maps, equipment, and electronic resources for all University locations. - Participate in the collection development and maintenance process by reclassifying items, editing bibliographic, item, and authority records in the online catalogue, selecting new materials, weeding out outdated materials from the collection, and taking part in inventory projects. - Providing a high-quality service and advice that is proactive, solution-focused, and responsive to customer needs.
