Production Manager

**Why do we need you?**
The primary task will be to assume responsibility for all production activities on site, and to lead the production team to deliver continuous improvement in processes and procedures and continue to move the operation into the world class manufacturing arena. The output to be delivered is work delivered in a safe environment, mínimal wastage, production met on time in full as per budgeted requirements
**Is this job for you?**
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial)
- WCM instructor (if internal)
- 5 - 7 years’ experience in a FMCG/Manufacturing environment (24 /7) running plants
- At least 3 years’ management/ supervisory experience within a FMCG/Manufacturing environment
- SAP knowledge and experience
- Awareness of ISO international standards and systems
- Proactive Management Activities (TPM, TQM, WCM, 5S, AM)
- Budgeting and cost management skills
- Negotiating skills
- Good presentation skills
- WCM knowledge and project experience
- High Attention to detail and analytical
- Strong analytical and interpretation skills

**To make sure nothing is forgotten**
- Planning of the manufacturing operations, manage all manufacturing operation on site.
- Management of and reporting of out-of-control situations, e.g., budget, safety, quality, manpower shortages, industrial relations etc.
- Ensure reduction in production downtime meeting availability targets, with a specific focus on reducing human errors
- Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly detailed patrols exist with focus on safety, quality, and performance outputs. Ensure required checklists are completed e.g., safety hierarchy checklists, housekeeping checklists etc.
- Compliance to annual plan for the responsible areas within the team.
- Contribute towards the safety culture.
- Ensure all visual management is updated and key performance outputs communicated timeously
- Ensure development of AM practitioners within the department and the WCM route map planned and executed for Production
- Drive Autonomous maintenance. Ensure AM schedule development, review and adherence.
- Ensure escalation triggers defined and all after hours’ work managed in accordance with plant objectives
- Ensure the facility operates 24 hours or as planned by monitoring and tracking performance and other metrics continuously
- Maximize productivity and quality as well as conduct Ergonomic Studies (Human - Machine Interface).
- Implementation of corrective and preventive actions where non-conformities are found.
- The management of environmental, health and safety, production efficiency, quality, stock management and demand.
- Consistently review the needs of the site introducing new technology as well as setting out the capital investment requirements in line with Group best practice policy.
- Managing performance, training, and development of staff.

- Ensure the plan schedule adherence target are achieved and communicated. Investigate and implement countermeasures for failure of PSA.
- Ensure stock counts of all materials in WIP location are counted at least monthly, ideally weekly. Support other stock counts as required. Drive down wastage of all raw materials. Investigate variances and trend areas of non-value activities.
- Ensure timeous stock bookings, and confirmation of production orders on SAP.
- Develop SOP’s, OPl’s and other best practice documents for the department and ensure a training matrix exists and these SOP’s are implemented.
- Ensure 5S standards are achieved for the Production area’s
- Involve team in yearly business and strategic planning with the Business strategic plan as an output. Ensure objectives and goals set, reviewed and met for the department.
- Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices are applied to handling of raw materials and additives throughout the process
- Clarify roles and tasks - Develop and empower team members. Ensure OOO’s and PDR’s are conducted monthly or as per requirement.
- Full World Class Manufacturing (WCM) function: Manage and expand WCM strategy at plant level, maintaining a consistent approach and ensuring targets including cost reduction are met.
- Educating staff in the principles and opportunities arising from WCM.
- Liaise with all other supply stakeholders to drive optimization within the process, ensure redlights are managed with the Warehouse department and proactive support of planning takes place so no out of stocks take place.
