National Projects Manager

We are looking for a National Projects Manager to join a reputable and well-established Non-Governmental Organization (NGO/NPO). The position is based in Kenilworth, Cape Town and please note that this is a 2 years fixed-term contract.

**Key responsibilities**:
**Project and Model Design**
- Identify provincial literacy gaps and design projects to address identified gaps in alignment with the organizational strategy and niche.
- Draw project models/ packages that clearly define project objectives, project scope, roles & responsibilities within each model.
- Arrange workshop/s with relevant team to determine feasibility, measurability and relevance of the designed project to identified literacy gaps/needs.

**Project Planning, Coordination and Monitoring**
- Work with Head of Programmes (HoP) and relevant project team/s to draw project workplans/implementation plans based on approved grant agreements.
- Review proposal documents and budgets to identify project risks, budget shortfalls, resource needs against community dynamics, stakeholder matrix and gaps.
- Coordinating staff and internal resources.
- Be actively involved in proposal development process and develop a detailed project plan to schedule key project milestones, workstreams & activities.
- Arrange project planning sessions annually for each project to align proposals to feasibility reports.
- Coordinate project activities to ensure all activities, events and expenditure timeous delivery.
- Establishing effective project communication plans (internal and external communication) for each project.
- Ensure teams are clear on M&E tools for each project.

**Reporting and donor engagement**
- Work with project teams to draft monthly reports and document evidence as required.
- Draft reporting schedule for all projects highlighting responsibilities from project teams to leadership teams.
- Maintain good communication and working relationship with donors.

**Project Management and Delivery**
- Ensure all project teams are clear on project purpose, objectives, activities, outputs and expected outcomes throughout the project cycle.
- Track progress of project implementation against targets and communicate timeously to HoP.
- Outlining annual and quarterly project budgets to teams and other teams for consistency and transparency.
- Maintain a healthy and positive project budget throughout project life cycles.
- Create and lead opportunities for learning, reflection and action both within and across projects and department.
- Work with MERL team to develop quality benchmarks for each project and support the teams to work towards desired quality.
- Ensure adequate monthly and quarterly resource planning and allocation for each project.
- Managing and adjusting for any changes in project scope, schedule and / or budget.
- Managing relationships with clients and stakeholders.

**Team Leadership and Mentorship**.
- Support project leads to identify, troubleshoot and solve challenges that arise during the course of implementation.
- Build capacity within project teams to document and reflect on activities, plan and monitor implementation, collect data, report, access and use MEL data effectively, and other capacity building needs that may arise.
- Collate team member input on strategic and operational matters as requested.
- Respond to team member concerns in a timely manner.
- Participate in team member recruitment, training, performance evaluation of direct reports, promotion and termination.
- Ensure that team members follow company policies and procedures.
- Ensure team members are engaged and create the environment for continuous improvement.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (Development Studies, Social Science, Education, Management).
- Postgraduate qualification or equivalent in a relevant field is advantageous.

**Salary**: R620,000.00 per year
