**Role Purpose**

The Senior Operational Risk Specialist role will be responsible for supporting the Head of Risk Management in the implementation of a risk management framework for the identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, mitigation and management of all operational / non-financial risks. This role will be required to work closely with the compliance and internal controls teams, as well, as business owners where the first line of defense is executed. This entails ensuring that effective processes are in place to manage, monitor and report on risks and issues, through stakeholder management.

**Requirements**:

- BCom / BTech Internal Audit or Risk Management or other related degree
- 5-8 Years + experience in managing and monitoring operational risk (incl. IT risks or be in a position to challenge IT risks) and/or enterprise risk preferably in the financial services
- Regulatory matters (i.e. POPIA, Insurance Act, Prudential Authority’s GIOs etc.) understanding

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Responsible for:

- the maintenance and updating of all risk processes and procedures ensuring information is current and accurate to reflect business processes and activities and risks or weaknesses are identified and escalated
- identify emerging risks that could have a negative impact of the company’s operations and financial standing including regulatory and legislative
- coordinating, communicating and participating in risk activities such as risk meetings, workshops and project meetings
- coordinating monitoring activities to review the implementation of Group policies across the Group Wide Services functions
- effective risk management communication to improve risk management culture and awareness within business
- building relationships with business
- Managing third party risk aspects:

- Assessment of third party’s inherent risk
- Assign residual risk rating
- Monitoring loss events and incidents and recommending remediation actions, including escalation and reporting protocols Issue tracking and action plan status updating across the Group Wide Services functions
- Collaborate with other assurance providers like Internal and External Audit to maintain the combined assurance universe
- Propose and implement initiatives to improve the risk maturity of operational risk management and project risk management coverage.
