The purpose of this role is enablement, management and influence of the above-the-line and paid media strategic planning and buying mandate for Corporate Affairs that includes guiding implementation of above-the-line and paid media strategy, functional level budgets, stakeholder relationships and operational risk. Agency management and governance. Using creative thinking and analysis to support strategies that ensure campaigns reach relevant audiences. Participate in creating awareness, preference and alignment to Absa’s above the line and paid media strategy.
**Job Description**:
Accountability: Above the line and Paid Media Strategy Enablement
- Enable group media strategy implementation incl. monitoring and measuring effectiveness
- Oversee development of the Above The Line media plans to ensure alignment in messaging, management of traffic and consistency in voice and brand placement, driving the adoption of a best-in-class media mix that maximizes share of voice, reach and awareness at optimal costs.
- Analysing and evaluating media mix, budget spend against targets and performance through regular formal and informal engagements and reports.e.g. monthly media schedules, spend and share of voice reports.
- Act as key driver of media innovation and creative thinking, sharing strategic media opportunities across the group. Identifying key opportunities and risks that necessitates review of the group media strategy and recommend actionable mitigation strategies.
- Monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of the media strategy in accordance with the agreed tracking mechanisms and media strategy. Reporting on the above the line and paid media dashboard reflecting optimized spend, post campaign measurement and competitive analysis.
- Coordinating the Marketing key indicator dashboard (i.e. balance scorecard containing key shared measures and metrics relating back to the key strategic objectives and media plans).
- Lead group agency engagement to enable an aggregated view of service, ensuring fluid, real time and transparent support across parties.
Accountability: Advice, Insights and Innovation
- Advisory and insights of trends, operating landscape, competitive intelligence and scope for innovation, opportunities and risks.
- Advice on best practice and guide data and insights enabled media buying and decision making
- Champion innovation through media insights, thought leadership and best practice to ensure that we position our Brand and stay in touch with our stakeholders.
- Provide sponsorship execution advisory, guidance and assurance of principles outlined in standard.
Accountability: Stakeholder Relations and Governance
- Socialization, custodianship and monitoring of compliance to the Paid Media Standard
- Monitoring and reporting on implementation of the Marketing Automation System
- Training on regulation, policies, process and procedure in partnership with Governance, Risk and Compliance
- Developing colleagues, business and agency relationships to ensure that relevant stakeholders participate in the achievement of objectives.
- Forging strong relationships with business stakeholders to ensure a shared understanding of priorities
- Continuous engagement with the go-to-market team to drive a seamless campaign execution process
- Maintaining networking relationships with the relevant stakeholders and providing advice on appropriate above the line and paid media activities are best suited to strategy.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- B-degree in Marketing Management or equivalent above the line and paid media certifications.
- Honors degree in business or marketing preferable.
- Certification in project management / marketing / communication would be advantageous
- 5-8 years relevant marketing experience.
- Experience in managing and coordinating multiple media streams.
- Exposure and understanding of Financial Services industry.
- Proven track record in marketing with length and scope of experience being an advantage.
