**_ Position Purpose:_**
- Implementation of a Heritage strategy and Policy to ensure the preservation, maintenance and effective management of

Transnet’s Heritage portfolio, aligned with legislative and business requirements and corporate governance guidelines and
principles.
- Implement the Heritage Marketing strategy whereby opportunities are identified, conceptualised and implemented, aligned

with Tourism and Preservation initiatives and offerings.
- Support engagements with the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA) as statutory body to ensure that

expectations are met and aligned. Align any heritage asset disposal requirements with SAHRA and other legislative bodies.
- Develop and implement Heritage Tourism plan in order to leverage the heritage assets for economic benefits.
- Market and enhance service offerings of the Transnet museums and heritage assets with tourism stakeholders, Identify

opportunities, facilitate, enable and partnering with relevant external parties to promote Transnet’s history and create new
sustainable revenue streams. Valorise Transnet historic art pieces and paintings through the creation of viewing facilities

such galleries including travel shows, amongst other initiatives.
- Effective management of the heritage asset register ensuring it is kept up to date.

**_Position outputs:_**
Strategy Development and implementation
- Developing and implementing a Heritage and Marketing Strategy and Business Plan, including the optimisation of Heritage

Assets
- Identify and develop commercialisation opportunities to yield a return on Transnet’s investments and Heritage Assets,

including but not limited to identifying fund raising opportunities.
- Programme manage commercialisation opportunities of Heritage Assets.
- Implement an integrated Heritage framework across the business (ODs) to ensure heritage assets are managed uniformly

and commercialised appropriately, ensuring SLA ‘s are in place where relevant.
- Drive strategic partnership programme for heritage assets

Governance
- Support the development and implement a Heritage Strategy and Policy aligned with relevant legislation and business

requirements, especially the provisions of the National
- Manage the process of developing and maintaining a comprehensive heritage asset register from a national Transnet-wide

perspective.
- Manage, regularise and maintain the various lease agreements with various strategic partners including steam clubs and

heritage agencies in South Africa.
- Effectively manage and implement the Risk Management and Compliance processes to mitigate any risks and exposures.
- Categorize the elements of the Heritage portfolio e.g. Heritage sites, Heritage museums, Heritage assets, etc. and develop

a working format with the current caretakers and staff of the various sites.
- Stakeholder Management
- Development and implementation of a stakeholder and communication plan to effectively manage the disparate aspirations

of all identified stakeholders and the relationships.
- Liaise and engage with key stakeholders across Transnet to ensure integration of programmes, initiatives, services and

activities to enhance the effective functioning and performance of the Heritage portfolio.
- Creating standardised operational procedures and processes to manage the expectations of the various steam clubs in the

country in line with the Heritage Asset preservation policy.
- Partner with relevant tourism operators in the Heritage Rail market to promote our history and create sustaining revenue

streams. Seek and expand into new markets relating to Transnet Heritage aligned to national tourism as well Culture and
- heritage strategies.
- Engage and involve local communities and the youth and people with disabilities in heritage preservation initiatives.
- Programme manage initiatives resulting from partnership opportunities with operators in the Heritage Rail market.
