**Key responsibilities**:Sewing operations**:
Operate industrial sewing machines and other equipment to sew garments or large-format fabric projects according to specifications.
Perform various sewing techniques such as stitching, hemming and attaching fasteners.
Ensure accuracy in cutting fabric pieces based on patterns or designs.
Handle delicate fabrics and materials with care to prevent damage during the sewing process.

**Alterations and repairs**:
Conduct alterations and repairs on existing garments or large-format fabric items, including resizing, replacing zippers, and fixing tears or seams.

**Quality control**:
Inspect finished products for quality defects, ensuring seams are straight, stitches are secure, and overall construction meets established standards.
Address any issues or discrepancies identified during quality checks, making necessary adjustments or repairs.

**Maintenance and safety**:
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work area, including sewing machines, tools, and supplies.
Follow safety protocols and guidelines when operating machinery to prevent accidents or injuries.
Perform routine maintenance tasks on sewing equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

**Skills and experience**:
Proven experience as a seamstress in apparel or large-format projects, with a strong portfolio showcasing relevant work.
Proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines and familiarity with various sewing techniques.
Knowledge of different types of fabrics, their properties, and appropriate handling methods.
Attention to detail and precision in executing sewing tasks to achieve high-quality finished products.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Understanding of garment construction principles and sewing patterns.
