Plastic Production Manager

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

**KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS**

**OPERATION/PRODUCTION**
- Retrieve manufacturing request to initiate planning by developing specific targets and plans to prioritize, organise and accomplish the requirements as per the manufacturing request.
- Determining the quantities produced per machine per day and aligning the output with the manufacturing request to ensure that the planning consistently complies with the requirement to meet and exceed expectations.
- Prepare and implement procedures and plan of action which identifies:

- the machine cycle times,
- machine outputs and targets,
- Sonic Welding targets and outputs
- Packaging targets and outputs (Packaging Procedure)
- Ensure continuous smooth production / operation by:

- Communicating Job expectations
- Planning, monitoring & appraising job results
- Coaching, counselling and disciplining employees
- Initiate, coordinate and enforce systems, policies and procedures
- Maintain workflow by:

- Monitoring the steps of the process
- Observing the control points and equipment
- Monitoring personnel and resources
- Facilitating corrections to malfunctions within the process control points
- Initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments to ensure that correct counts and orders are given always.
- Completes production plan by:

- Scheduling and assigning personnel
- Accomplishing work results
- Establishing priorities
- Monitoring progress
- Revising schedules
- Resolving problems
- Reporting results of the process flow on shift production summaries.
- Provide continuous support to the team according to the Operating Standards and identify issues immediately.
- Respect your team and lead by example.
- Manage and prioritize all production processes and implement all production plans.
- Understand the importance of efficiency and why it is critical in production day to day running to meet daily targets and minimize rejects.
- Measures and visually inspects products for surface and dimension defects and ensure conformance to specifications
- Report and record all rejects made along with the Quality Controller &/or SHEQ Manager.
- Inspect equipment, structures and material to identify the cause of errors or other problems and defe
- Observe, receive and obtain information from all relevant sources pertaining to the requirements.
- Provide information, counts, efficiency and rejects to Factory Director.
- Analyse information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Assessing the value, importance or quality of things or people.
- Use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations or standards.
- Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
- Along with the Quality Controller ensure that the correct packaging is utilized for the customer as per the instructions received.
- Other requirements include but are not limited to
- Set-up of an Injection Moulding Machine (Take out existing mould, load new mould)
- Preparation of mould
- Set-up of machines to produce the various products manufactured.
- Identification of problems or defects on machines.

**SAFETY, HEALTH & ENVIRONMENT**
- Ensure consistent compliance with legal, statutory, company and client’s health, safety and quality requirements.
- Ensure that all employees continuously comply to the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and amendments.
- Ensure compliance to PPE, equipment and safety requirements including policies and procedures
- Educate and direct employees on housekeeping to ensure a safe and clean working environment by using the control points and resources in compliance to the policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance to workplace policies according to safety objectives.

**QUALITY**
- Maintain quality production and service by establishing, creating and implementing legal, statutory and organization standards.
- Coordinate with maintenance and QC team and ensure compliance to all protocols to maintain product quality.
- Work hand in hand with the Quality Controllers, Quality Supervisors and Managers to identify rejects, the causes for the rejects and how to solve the problem.
- Guide the team on the rejects and the causes of rejects, also how to avoid and eliminate rejects from occurring.
- Constantly communicate the importance of Quality to the team.

**QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE**

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A Tertiary or related qualification in production and/or operations.
- Qualification in Mechanical Engineering

**EXPERIENCE**:

- Minimum of 5 years working experience in production and operations.
- Proven track record of training employees in productivity and safety.
- Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one to one basis or as a group.
- Excellent project management skills and technical/mechanical insight
- Working experience with ERP or IMS management
